Parting it out! TPI is on the way along with a WCT-5! Anyone know of a place that mandrel bends custom exhuast?
Anyway, we need to get together.

What's up fellas? I'm new to the third gen scene. I just bought an '85 Z28 a month ago with the LG4. I would be happy to get together and hang out with fellow third gen lovers. I am planning a major heart transplant in the shape of a 383 stroker with 450-500 horsepower so I should have a huge grin on my face by July. I go to Clemson right now but will be going back to Greer in May so just let me know of any get togethers. And Brian, I don't know if they do mandrel bends, but Gwinn's Fast Lube on Wade Hampton in Greer is supposed to be pretty good as far as exhaust systems go.

Clemson327, On your 383 what type of cylinder heads and intake are you going to run. Is it going to be carb or fuel injection.
Xceleratemaro, I hope you get your car running soon. Are you still wanting to run Brad (mignight's) car. He is getting his car dialed in and it get alittle faster every trip to the track. He just has a problem with it hooking right know.

92, I'm not sure which kind of heads I'm going to run. Basically I will take whichever I can get the best deal on with 215-220cc intake ports with 64cc combustion chambers. I wish Brodix but those are a bit out of my price range haha. I'm also still deciding on whether or not I want to build it myself or buy an engine that has already been built as I don't have much time to work on it between a job, a fraternity, and a girlfriend. My goal is to get my car into the 12's, but I will take 11's if I can get there.
Most of the specs for what I would do if I was building the engine myself can be found in the tech/general engine board under "Here's the plan....."

It is navy blue with a silver stripe along the bottom. You probably haven't seen it though. It is just sitting at my apartment not running right now haha. Good news though, I found a 400 small block that has already been bored and completely build so basically I just have to replace some parts with higher performance parts and I will be ready to run.

Gator,
After much thought and deliberation (and looking at my budget), I decided to drop the engine in the way it is now and save the performance mods for next summer. However, my planned parts are:
Holley 750 DP carburetor
Pro Topline 220cc aluminum heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap intake manifold
Predator solid roller cam: adv: 274/282 .050: 238/246 lift: .560/.576 w/1.6 rr's
1.6:1 roller rockers
Hooker 1 3/4" long tube headers
exhaust cut outs
hopefully true duals with dynomax super turbo mufflers
K&N filter
fiberglass cowl induction hood (4" maybe?)
Rebuilt 700R4 with 3200 lockup stall converter
Zexel-Torsen heavy duty limited slip
Richmond 3.73 gears
Moser 28 spline axles
According to Desktop Dyno I should put out at least 500 hp and 500 ft-lbs of torque at the flywheel. Hopefully these numbers will transfer to real life haha. I will be in the high 11's on street tires and with drag radials i may get lucky and break into the 10s. That would be nice.
Now all I have to do is get the money for all that stuff.

Adam, that sounds like a pretty good setup. Are you going to be using the stock crank? What kind of pistons and rods are you thinking of using? From what i hear it is best to use a 6inch rod for a 400. Have you heard the Dynomax bullet mufflers? Thats what i have on my car. They sound pretty good, a little loud but not to bad. the good thing with those mufflers is that it is easy to run trual duals with them. Glens muffler shop in seneca, is the one that made my exhuast. i hear ya about the money thing. I'm getting married. So the camaro fund is getting smaller and smaller.

Gator,
I am planning on running an all-forged bottom end. I may step up to a 3.875" or 4.000" stroker crank, not too sure about that yet. It will probably be an Eagle crank with SRP pistons and 6" forged H-beam rods. I want to run the super turbo mufflers so that it will be a little quieter and give it more of a sleeper attitude, but I will still have the cutouts in case I want it to be loud. I also think im gonna switch to the Hedman 1 5/8" longtubes as they are about half the price of the Hookers. Congrats on getting married by the way.
Update: I got the car home on Friday, and I hope to get the 406 swapped in very soon. If anybody has any experience with this and wants to help out it would be worth a dinner.
