Local road courses?
Does anyone know of road courses in the area around North Eastern TN? There are some nice roads for driving FAST around here, but there are also other cars, children, dogs, friggin 1500lbs angus cows (yea, that was scary) So, I never really push the car as hard as I would like to.... Any help would be awesome.

Actually, the Tennessee/Virginia border is about...15 minutes from my house. What is VIR? (Virginia International Raceway, I am betting.

yep u got it. its a great road course and its supposed to be not too technical unlike somewhere like road atlanta where theres concrete barriers all around the place.
i havent had a chance to make it up to VIR yet as i dont trust my sucky brakes to slow me down if im doing HPDEs. my neighbor runs his track-prepped m3 there and he tells me its about 250-300 dollars a weekend for like 30 or 40 minutes of track time. it might be less if you join a club from your state and go when they have track days.

I would love to run, but that is more than I have to spend on it. I don't want a really technical course, I would rather have more open turns. If I wanted technical, I could go to North Wilkesborough (sp) for their auto-x and pay $10. Actually, I may be doing that next weekend.
I'll have to see about joining a club and trying to get in for less.

yah sweet deal. by the way, are ur front brakes stock? how is the braking distribution under hard threshold braking? do the rears lock up first?

Yea, they are stock with the Hawks HPS pads. But the guy who I had to install the rear installed the disk/disk porp. valve and adjusted the system. He did a great job.
At and around threshold, it is just about right. I can really stomp in the dry without much fear of lock-up. But, when I do lock them up, the fronts actually go first. Not sure how, but everytime I've done it, the fronts seem to break loose. I've not done it alot, so it might have just been the road surface. Either way, the PBR calipers with the 12" rotors in rear are HUGE improvement over the stock drums.
My next upgrade in the brake department is going to be (after bigger wheels) the C5 caliper on 13" rotors from EbMiller.
