tach problem

Axle/Gears: 4.56
tach problem

I have a 91' camaro rs 3.1 the problem I'm haveing is when I start my car the tach pegs out and stays therer till I cut my car off. Does any one what I can do to fix this problem.

i have a 91 taht had a similar problem. it's the chip in the back of the guage cluster that is bad. there is a common problem with the black and white IC on it. try getting one from the junk yard. if that doesnt make it work then i recommend reading this thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ter-fix-2.html It has the info you need to fix it yourself. also the spare chip from the junkyard should make good practice soldering if it is fired too.
