Snow sucks...for driving that is

I had forgotten how badly my car handles in the snow. It started snowing in NC today, and when I went to drive home (less than 2 miles) there was about half an inch (maybe?) of wet snow. I got stuck on two small hills, and spun out twice (once I was being an idiot, but the other was legit). I grew up in Jersey and do know how to drive in snow, but have not driven my Firebird in snow since high school. Luckily I doubt we'll get much more down here in NC. But short of 300lbs of sand, it renders driving nearly impossible. Are all RWDs this bad?
Maybe school will be canceled tomorrow though and I can trick my friends into going skiing!

My 1990 silverado was worse. I live in MS and we rarely ever see snow. We got three inches yesterday and it was melted by 11. We get ice. I have to put weights that we put on tractors in the back and squat it about 2 inches before i get any traction. Hell that truck spins on wet grasss.

Re: Snow sucks...for driving that is

My mom had an 83 T/A when we were growing up in Michigan. Three times she tried to turn into our driveway one morning after work...three times, she missed when she put her foot on the accelerator. She eventually just parked it at the foot of the driveway.

Just like a truck, when there's no weight on the drive wheels (or very little), it gives no traction.

Yeah this morning I tried to get my car out so I could play in the snow a little but I couldn't even make it out of the driveway. I had the bright idea of getting it into the yard where it was level and getting a running start out of the driveway so now my car is parked in the front yard.
