See you guys there. When does it start? Around 5?
May want to make a separate post about it. I would, but I don't know the time.
Would it list it in the Friday paper?

Just so happens that I have a 92 RS for sale. Will be listed in the Auto Trader this tuesday. Asking $3200 in the trader. 305 TPI, T-tops, leather seats.. and so on....email if interested. I am in Northwest GA.
Hey I am definatly interested however i am still about a month (and a half?) a way from actually purchasing one. plus I have to sell my truck first(shouldnt be hard, all the mexicans at work ask me everyday when im gonna sell it) If it is still around in a month or so i just might have to come up and take a look. can you tell me a little more about it? color, transmission, condition. do you have any pictures you could post? thanks!

Hey check out the Tanger thread. Some of us are going to meet up at Tanger mall for the show and shine this weekend (june 15). Maybe we could make it a good showing of 3rdgens.

I didnt realize how any Thirdgenners were in the area! I live in ROME. The closest drag strip is 30 miles away n Hiram. Its only an 1/8 mile track. If I want to let my GTA loose I usually make the 2 hour trip to Commerce. I know a few guys in this area really looking for more Third-gens to hang out with. If anyone in the area is interested in hoooking up for bench racing or just looking over each others cars, just drop me a line at Kev89GTA@hotmail.com!

Here's another new third gen in Lithonia.(About 3 1/2 miles from Decatur) I'm working on a primed gray 1984 Firebird that I bought in Warner Robins for like $450.00(Too bad it was a 6 cylinder) I just got a bored .030 LT1 and a 454 with a TH700r4 tranny w/ a quickshift kit and 2300 stall torque converter. If anyone has a cowl hood for this car that they want to sell, or anyone that needs to buy a rear window, let me know.

Hey, I have a ton of family members who are F-body owners scattered about in DeKalb county. All they like to do is to go down to race on the flightline at Robins AFB. Just for the record, I am 20. How about you?

Just responding and checking in as a GA member on here!

No, it's not the wrong thread, Tim. EVERYONE on this thread needs to try and make it to the next Tanger show. We could over run the place with thirdgens, it would rule!
Last time I went redraif's was the ONLY thirdgen there (in the show at least, mine was there, hehe). And last time redraif told me there were a couple more, but look how big this thread is!
There are a TON of thirdgens in Georgia, so lets get out there! I don't care if your car looks as bad as mine (trust me, no matter how bad it is, I beat ya in that category, lol, ...but not for long, hopefully!) lets go; we can have our own private thirdgen area roped off or something!
Redraif said something about meeting up at Zaxby's or something and coming into the parking lot as a train of thirdgens so we can park together... and for all you folks far from Atlanta, am I the only one who loves a good road trip?
Later,
Chris

I live in Midtown and recently picked up my first Camaro. It's a 305 88 Coupe w/ t-tops. I really love it-- low, low miles and overall really good condition. Before I got it it had sat for a few years but doesn't seem to have degenereated much.
Right now I am having some overheating related problems and need a local mechanic to help me work them out.
My car is running hot and that seems to be causing heat to transfer. The brakes grind and the power steering slips when the engine gets too hot. I want to do the dual-fan conversion. and am worried about having an average shop do the work. It seems like a pretty straight-forward job, but not one that the average shop does on a regular basis.
I'm not a mechanic and neither is my husband. We're looking for an honest mechanic that will work with us to make our car run the best that it can.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Unless you got an intake manifold leak or a bad water pump......
1.) check the radiator fluid and do a flush if necessary...
2.) get a new radiator cap
3.) get a 180* brass thermostat (stock is 195*)
4.) get a Jet Fan Switch (turns the fan on sooner), I suggest doing this while you have the fluid drained out
I can't really explain your power steering issues, and it just sounds like your pads need replaced unless you've grinded into the rotors, then you'll need new ones or get them resurfaced if you can.
Those 4 suggestions I gave are extremely easy to do. There is a "cooling board" on here to help you some more. As far as mechanics go, I live north of Atl, so I can't really give you any suggestions.

How is the Corps? I was just curious because I'm up to ETS June of 2004. By the way, what rank are you? I don't want to be thinking you are a Corporal when you could be a Gunnery Sgt!

No signs of an intake manifold leak and I have replaced the water pump, radiator (new three tube), have a 16lb. cap, 160* thermostat and have a toggle switch in the dash to control the fan manually. Recently replaced the pads and the steering only seems to be a problem when the car is hot. Thanks for the tips. I do appreciate the suggestions. I've checked out the cooling board and the trouble seems to be down to the wimpy single fan.

Calhoun is about 40 miles west of Canton via nice curvy roads. I went to Reinhardt in Waleska in the mid 80's.
There are quite a few third generation Camaros here. They seem to be a favorite of the large Hispanic (mostly Mexican) population here and in Dalton.

Hello there! I was wondering how you knew about GA law on that other post about the headlight conversion. I thought "wow another Georgian!". How did you find out about the law update? I have thought about getting a code book somehow. I just can't leave the mods alone and it would be helpful to know how much trouble they will get me in. Seem smost cops don't really know or don't really care. So just would rather be jerks that answer a simple question. I get the "Help yourself out. If it didn't come that way, leave it alone."

My friend went to court on his tail light ticket, Ill see if I can get a code book link for you. The judge told him what he needed to stay legal. I also read most of the code book when I was trying to get a ticket thrown out for running a red light which I didn't do. I got pulled over by an a**hole cop, tried to say I went through a intersection turning 90 degrees at 70 mph, I wish, not that intersection. I got it thrown out luckly.
Most of the laws are in Article 1 of Chapter 8 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated. I know this for tail lights but for your head lights I'm just going on the fact that they are dot approved.
Code Section 40-8-23 Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to taillights, is amended by striking subsection (e) and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"(e) All lenses on taillights shall be maintained in good repair, and shall meet manufacturers´ specifications, shall meet requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and shall not be covered or consist of anything other than reflective material installed as original factory equipment or its equivalent replacement."
the judge said the interpatation of equivalent replacement ment dot approved. For your headlights that would be your only defence

First of all this is just from experience with modified cars and trucks my experiance may differ each judge interpets the law their own way. So just don't be mad at me if you end up with a ticket. But this should give you some defence incase.
The tail light code see part d:
http://www.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/pub/o...Code/G/40/8/23
These are the laws about headlights.
http://www.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/pub/o...Code/G/40/8/29
http://www.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/pub/o...Code/G/40/8/30
here is the part about color
http://www.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/pub/o...Code/G/40/8/34
must meed SAE standard J578
I can't find online you can buy the book at
http://www.sae.org/servlets/productD...CD=J578_200207
or go to the library to look it up they always have the SAE standards books.
But basically it states the standard colors but it goes into technical distance and intensity and color values of the lights.
also read
http://www.dot.state.ga.us/
http://www.barrettraceway.com/laws_40-8.php
So technically as long as you meet height requirments of your front turn signals, your head lights should be legal, as long as you use SAE J578 and DOT aproved lights. I couldn't find anything reguarding conversion just specification, I guess it is just something not done alot so there is no laws on the books about the converson.
I am no lawer, so I cant say for sure you are legal, but I don't see any laws they can get you on

), and they don't have much to offer to third gen guys as a group. There are several members with third gens, though...Shannon, David (red IROC), Johnny G (GTA), Cliff Jones (GTA), Lester H (Z28), Hank B (IROC), Andrew R (a couple birds)...and one " officially excommunicated but always welcome"member who will go unnamed!
Shannon, David and I are also ACFA members, and they are more accepting, but we're the only active third gen people.Anyone interested in starting a GA Third Gen club??? If so I'll start a post on the SE forum.
