well, i got black black black tint i did myself about a year n a half ago.ive been pulled over many times and never heard a word about my blackouts or tint and i got pulled over last night for havin blackout tail lights and the tint was to dark. he said teh back can be as dark as u want,but the sides have to be lighter? how dark is the darkest you can go on the side windows?ad why are the blackoutsillegal,i love how they look....

I went with the Black black Limo tint in my rear, and i did the door glass in Limo black as well but i came to the conclusion that i couldnt see out of the darn thing it was nice and cool with the A/C blowing but I ended up removing the tint, which was a hassel considering it goes on easier then coming off According to some of the packages and warnings I've seen on Blackouts they're for offroad use only(yea rite, Y sell them for cars?) my guess is some of the tunnel vission drivers out there cant see the blacked out tail lites and would probably run you over, or not slow to a stop, when your stopped

 

yeah,but they look really good w/ my paint scheme. the cop was saying the reflectors work cause light goes in and reflects and bs like that. he just wanted to hassle a teenager in a nice car i guess.... oh well. ive been here for almost 2 years n never heard a damn thing about this crap. it sux,lol.

 

The last I read about the laws in the state statute books for tint, were as follows;

Rear windows / Rear side windows, 5%.

Front side windows, 35-38% (drivers seat forward).

Front / windsheild, 6 inches from the top to middle, 35-38%.
Front / windsheild, 6 inches from the bottom to middle, 35-38%.
(although most use 5% just along the top, and none on the bottom)

I do believe the same laws are still in effect today.

 

I believe the law was set up because the cops want to be able to see who's driving the car. Unfortunately for them, you can tint your rear windows as black as you want (limo tint), its just the front ones that they whine about.

Well black black black tint is dumb IMHO. At night how the hell can you see out the window when you back up? specially if there is a black car in a spot behind you?? I guess it's the old fart in me, but looks are cool for that, looks, if your gonna drive the car on the road, use common sense.

If it is a trailer queen show car, Spray paint the windows black for all i care.

a trailer queen, a pretty car, with chrome all over the engine bay and is all show, no go. like Honda civics with fart pipes and bling bling chromed engine parts and color matched wires and neons.

I've seen tons of f-bodies and fox bodies that look sweet as hell, and tout to have 400+ hp with there chromed engine and parts, but these cars have never been started are are made to win beauty contests.

cops don't like yellow sports cars.

also you stick out in traffic. my friend had an 86 yellow vette and he got pulled over alot. i mean alot. i only rode in his car 4 or 5 times and we got pulled over 3 times. everyone could be speeding but he would be the only one that would get pulled over.

thats funny (not HAHA funny) the cop that pulled me over had a thing for Metalic green vehicles he pulled me over and snagged a green car later, after i left.

yah same thing on my car they pulled me over for speeding then they tell me my window tint is too dark he said i had a 17 percent im like wtf no its not he starts telling me if i arguee that he will give me a ticket so i said fine its a 17 and he told me to get a 35 percent or ill get a ticket next time.

 

I have limo tint on the sides and the back window. I've been lucky so far, no cop has busted me for it. I'll never get rid of it, I love the way my car looks with it. I don't have any problems driving at night.

 

yah it looks hell of nice having ur windows tinted and its alot cooloer inside too. im re tinting my windows today making them a lil darker heheh

That doesn' t always work. My wife got pulled over and they made her roll the windows up. That sucked!!!

 

Here in New Mexico, it is legal to place limo tint on the rear hatchback and the rear windows (if 4 door)...The darkest you can go on the front windows is a Medium 23% tint. NM laws are pretty lenient if you ask me.

 

really what would be nice is if someone was to make available some window tint that changes from lite to dark kinda like eye glasses do only make them change to limo darkness . I've never been pulled over for having glass too dark( actually if you look @ my car from outside you cant see inside it regardless of how close you are) and i used to pass those county-mounties all the time. w/ that said i never did like cops they think they are G0D almighty

My VW has 5% on the back and 35% on the quarter windows, and it was tinted back in 1993. And being a 1961 model car, it has no backup lights, but I haven't hit anything with it. I just stick my head out the window.

But it seems like every time I get pulled over, the first thing the cop does is shine their flashlight in the back window and take a look.
