Camaropimp in an accident
At 1am last night he drove off highway 40 near Ashfork coming back from Lake Havasau having fallen asleep at the wheel. Ran over a road sign, got back on the highway, hit a guard rail, did several 360's and went back off the highway and came to a stop. He was going 100mph at the time. Seems to have tranny damage and possible front end damage but not sure yet. He suffered no effects from the carnage and is OK. I know he doesn't drive a thirdgen anymore but he is a member of this forum. We will see what the final damage is soon. Brand new vizage body kit is a loss as well.

Well, it's official...the insurance company is trying to screw us over. Took it to a GM dealer that does both body work and service to give us an estimate and the woman handling our case said she found out what a lowered car looks like. I said, the car isn't lowered. I knew we were in for a fight. There was some questionable stuff under the car such as moved brake lines, hanging wires etc but it was obvious there was damage from the accident. Well, GM dealer called SF to tell them they weren't sure what was previous damage and what was new and the adjuster came out today and said there would be no mechanical coverage. All the damage was prior to the accident. The body work repairs only come to 1700 dollars. They are not replacing any body parts, only repairing them.
I told the adjuster the car was not modified (lowered) and that the entire suspension was stock except for the front struts which are aftermarket replacements with ***** for adjusting the dampening. But they had already "profiled" the car because my boy is 19 and drives a sports car with a body kit. Needless to say we are pissed. So the dealer told the adjuster it was lowered and I am sure thats why they arent covering any mechanical stuff even tho I argued either the tranny is messed up or the drive shaft is. There is also something wrong with the front end. I am told by the dealer that the adjuster came and they put it on the lift and he made his decision then. I am sure the dealer never took it for a test drive like I told them to nor did they check the frame for straightness.
This is too long so I will cut short and find out more tomorrow. Dont you wish you could be at the dealer when i pick up the car? Virgin ears not allowed.

Taking it for another estimate tomorrow and called my agent today and chewed his ear so now he is involved. The thing is that the adjuster didnt even give us a chance to get anymore estimates. He looked at the car and made his decision. Period...end of story. Thread Starter

They really don't want me to do that. He is unforgiving...meantime, I was told by the last collision place that I shouldn't be driving the car because the rear driver side axle is leaking real bad. He also told me he couldn't give an estimate on mechanical damage until the insurance co. ok's them to do the body work and then they would inspect and take things apart to see what's what. That was never done in the first place. Lot of things are not right here. How does an insurance company refuse to pay mechanical when the car was in a major accident?

The oddest thing is SF is usually one of the better companies about this. When I got in my accident (the F250 with a thirst for ThirdGen blood) the guy had AllState insurance and I couldn't BELIEVE how fast and helpful they were. I had my check for the rental car within 48 hours of my claim, and they gave me EXTRA money to get the rest of my car painted. You might wanna look into them after this is over

Gained some progress yesterday after talking with the team manager in Phoenix. He said I could take the car back to the place of my choice and have it looked at again for body damage and mechanical issues and if there were any questions they would come out and look at it again.
They are also going to cover the 760 dollar vizage body kit that was lost and damaged. All I have to do is get the collision place to say that yes the mechanical damage is from the accident and I believe SF will have to fix it. Personally, I believe the car will be a total loss if mechanical is included. So, there is some hope yet before I call my attorney. Can't get the car looked at until Sept. 6 but we can wait.

Update...
So I took the car to a collision place and told them what was happening and they agree to look at the car. The new estimate for body damage was 2500 dollars. About 800 more than the other place. They looked at the car and said it was unsafe to drive cuz the rear axle seal was busted and leaking fluid all over the caliper and pad. I said, no shiet. I told SF that the first time and they wouldnt listen. They found the mechanical damage underneath the car to be accident related as well. So the car will be a total loss at this point and if the price is right we will buy it back, fix the axle stuff and resell with a salvage title. Too bad, this was a beautiful car and it was a family favorite. I will miss her.
