I'll be there at Chillis on Saturday. I'll show you some stuff I know.

The airdam is easy to see if you have, look under the front bumper there should be a big dark gray peice of plastic that sticks down 4-5" below the radiator and is about 3 feet wide or so. You'll see it right away it's impossible to miss. If you don't have one, go to a junkyard or post an ad. You can also make one for the meantime until you get a real one. It's ghetto but on my '85 I just bought some sheet metal from Home Depot, cut it to fit and drilled holes and screwed it on. It worked good. Temps never passed the 160* mark.

sat. is st. patty's day....i will prob. be drunk by 5. I know what an air dam is(hangs down and drags all the F*ckin time so people yank them off or the rip off) and i have replaced the fan switch; controls primary fan and fixed all hoses for a/c control unit...controls the secondary fan. There is a relay for them also. the cars tend to run kinda hot. So if its overheating check those things out. Those were my problems. Cooper and Stapley here so if ya need a hand let me know.

wo...didnt realize there was another page of posts....looks like the question was answered

Hey My-Iroc. I live in Mesa as well. Seems to be a lot of us out here. Anyway, if you need help with anything, PM me and we'll set something up. I work at Jaguar in Scottsdale, so I do have a shop to lift your car up if need be. That way we could check out under your car as well. It's much easier that way.

I was there from 5:05-5:30. I was the only one. So I left. It's cool I just got a 55" LCD TV that I was working with for 8hrs last night.

I could've used a break from it looking at Fbodies and musclecars, but oh well. Maybe next week.

Oh my god haha. I was at Red Robin at Stapley and the 60, not Chili's...wow, I feel like an idiot. Anyways, I was there the same time you were at Chili's Kevin, crap. Went up to the Pavillions and hung out there till about 8:30-9:00, surprisingly there were a lot of cars there for St. Patrick's day. Anyways, next time I'll go to the right place

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

Hello everyone, I just found this thread (hope people still follow it). I live in S. Chandler (cooper and riggs area). I have an 82 transam but is not running right now, needs engine (looking for an LT1). It's nice to chat with some people around the area. I've been to the pavillions several times but only once have I seen 3rd gens there.
Anyway have a nice day everyone to hope to hear from anyone in the area.

Yeah it doesnt seem like too many 3rd gens go to the local car shows too often. SO you plan on doing a LT1 swap, plan on doing a 6spd also? Anyways nice to meet you. I doubt anyone will be meeting up tonight with the suns game on.

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

Aaron here. I started this post, to meet other people with similar car interests. Some of us were meeting at the chilis @ us 60 & stapley. Haven't gone lately though. I am open for a cruise, the pavillions, or whatever. My iroc runs pretty good now, i got alot of things fixed with my fuel system. Now it's time to find a racing tune-up shop. Maybe we can get a small group to network together for working on our cars, or a cruise. I'm not interested in joining a club though. Anyway let's stir something up. Tear up some streets, burn rubber...........

Hey Aaron. Yeah I don't want to be part of a club either. Just hang out with people with similar interest in third gens. I like the idea of networking together to work on our cars. Cause I'm a rookie here when it comes to cars. I have learned a lot during the past few years but right now I'm about to attempt my biggest undertaking SWAPPING my 305 for something with more kick to it. Right now I'm reading my hayne's manual, just getting an idea what I need to do and what tools to go get.

Well talk to you guys later.

Cool Z28kid, what year engine did you put in your car and what car did it come out off?
Did you do it yourself or did you pay someone to do it? I want to do it myself but at first it feels a little overwhelming.

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

the 305 put in an old 4 bolt main 350 bored 30 over, in an 86 z28. did it my self had the engine short blocked and then I had help from my friends holding my headers off to the side to drop in the new block.

P.S. Don't forget to change the motor mounts if your taking out the engine

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

I had a few friends help me to hold back the headers and one under the car making sure the tranny was not hitting or catching on anything... Time wise it went by fast after everything was unbolted.. I also suggest to keep the tranny attached to the engine when you pull it that way the weight of the tranny pulls that side of the engine down making it a lot easier to take out, do the same when you put it in.

I'm so jealous! I graduated from Chandler High School in...um....'82, lol. I hear it's grown up quite a bit out there. I only lived out there a year, but it was great. This thread and the road names brought back lots of memories. Good luck with your meets and maybe someday I'll do a road trip.

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

This is what I get for not checking TGO as often as I used to. Then again, with my awesome starter problem I'd rather not have to push that thing all over the place for the car show I should have a bunch of thirdgenners over at my place for beers sometime soon... I've been ignoring the car part of my life for too long now. Money is finally getting better and I might actually be able to do some stuff again

No, didn't kill it, had to sell it. Prob one of the hardest things I've ever had to let go of in my entire life

The fro is dead I have to be one of those working adult things now and the fro was cramping my style (and it's just too damn hot in the summer)

No way man... I've started growing mine back and I have a job where I have to have a "conservative" hair style. I get by with judicious use of various hair products. Not too hot here yet. It's still in the high 80's and the humidity is wonderful for fros. Chicks dig the fro too

Re: ANYONE IN THE TEMPE AZ. AREA??

Hello everyone, what's everyone been up to. I went to the pavillions this weekend and saw a couple of thirdgens, a nice red camaro and a black firebird, it's nice to see thirdgens out there every now and then.

Well I thought I'd say hi in here.

Talk to you guys later.

Chris
