Help in Tucson

Hi, My name is Craig Marshall and I live in Tucson. I manufacture an electrical harness product for C3 Corvettes which is sold by Speed Direct and Ecklers. I would like to provide a product for 3rd gen f-bodies and what I am looking for is someone local here to the Tucson area with a stock 3rd gen that I can use to build a prototype harness. It would involve only an hour or so of measuring and pictures and in return, you would get you a free production harness for your car. Knowledge of the various year and model (camaro/firebird) differences would be extremely helpful. If multiple harnesses are required to cover these differences, then a production harness will be provided for each. The Corvette harnesses sell for over $200.00 each.

Thanks,
Craig Marshall

Re: Help in Tucson

I got a stock IROC-Z, 5.7 TPI. '87. I've had to repair the harness, but I used stock replacement stuff with the correct wire colors, so it shouldn't be an issue. I also have an electrical diagnosis manual for this car that lists a circuit view of everything. Let me know.

And I think there'd be more wires for a Firebird, pop up headlights and the like. Under hood for one of those is crazy busy. So glad I have a Camaro. :P

I got an 89 5.7 TPI Trans am you can look at I think it would be very similar to TheScaryOne's camaro. But if you want to see if there is a difference between them you can. I think 90 or 91 they changed to from MAF to MAP sensors.

Re: Help in Tucson

If you want to drive up to Phoenix, you can measure and photograph a broad spectrum of wiring options. Including a 1982 Z28 for the lower tech carb option. A 1990 IROC with the 305 TPI for the later Camaro options. And a 1988 GTA (with digital dash) for one of the more complicated Firebird options. I'd offer up a 1992 TBI Camaro but we pulled the motor and harness in it last weekend.

Re: Help in Tucson

Thanks everyone for all the great offers of help. I'm sorry for the delay in responding as the Wife's Sister passed away this week and things are not back to normal yet.

To clarify, the harness is a plug-n-play harness that includes an 8 guage feed to relays that provide 14 volts at up to 480 watts to the headlight system. The design goal for this harness, as was the Corvette harness, is to be able to install the product with no modifications to the present wiring.

(here is a link to the Speed Direct ad)

Again, thanks for the responses and I should be back to things by the middle of next week.

BTW: I'm a GM guy from way back - This is under the hood of my 72 Corvette resto/mod. It's a ZZ4 with a H.O.T. cam w/1.6 rockers and edelbrock heads and fuel injection.
