first z28 first camaro desperately need new tires not quite familiar with good brands and not too familiar with rating system
I live in vegas and I am curious as to a good brand/make/speed rated tire to get. I'm not taking this on the track but freeway driving and the occasional fun but relatively safe burst of speed nothing super high just around 100 at most. no drag strip yet. looks like h rated but it looks like i should go with a w,v, or z rating but cant find any z at normal parts shops here
can anyone suggest some good tires?
please help!

I've got Goodyear Triple Treads on my daily driver, and I'm seriously thinking about putting them on the Trans AM. They have a good feel on dry roads and really grip in the snow. I like an interesting tread pattern and these have it as well. Not quite the full V tread like other tires have. Good all around tire so far, my only knock on them might be some tire noise on dry roads. Here's an article on them:

There are reports of vibration of the tires at different speeds, I've experienced it maybe twice but I chalked it up to snow being in the rims (happens every year to my daily driver, pain in the butt really..). On dry I've had it happen once, and have yet to feel it again. Just something to keep in mind.

thanks i looked online through pepboys and they have a v rated Hankook Ventus V4 ES are these any good? I'm thinking of taking advantage of the buy 3 tires get the forth free sounds good seeing as I just bought my z28 and with school i am kinda strapped. anyone know about hankook are they good or bad? oh and I need something that wont lose traction on vegas roads especially if it rains since we put oil in our asphalt here
also i see it's recommended to utilize the plus 1 option, I'm a little new and have never heard this, is it suggested for f bodies?

+ plus 1 is usually used when upsizing your rims. Your factory tire size should be 245/50/16. Do you still have your stock rims? If, say you were to go to a 17 inch rim you would "Plus 1" to a 245/40/17 tire. (Or equivelent). If you have your factory wheels I would stay with them.
A few places to go for good prices on tires are:
www.treaddepot.com (My favorite)
And,
www.tirerack.com
I use kumho 245/50/16's on my IROC and these are more than adequate for a daily driver and only cost around 85.oo ea. (With free shipping)

Also plus1 is intended to keep the tire from being taller when you upgrade the wheels. What you can do if you want a wider tire (Say, on the rear.) would go with a 255/50/16.Originally Posted by batman-matt

breakdown of tire sizing.
245/50/16 =
245 - the tread width of the tire. In this case the tread is 245 mm wide.
50 - Aspect ratio (percentage) in this case the height of the sidewall is 50% of the tread width. (Equal to 122.5 mm)
16 - the wheel size. This tire is intended to fit a 16" wheel.
For lots more info you can go to
www.discounttire.com They created the +1 system.

No problem. I buy most of my tires from tread depot. Like their prices, customer service and the speed at which my tires arrive by ups.Originally Posted by batman-matt
