As far as helping you, the original poster of this thread doesn't understand emissions laws, so good luck with that.
Have you ever worked for ADAQ?

Your question is not relevant.

What someone can "get by with" doesn't equal what the laws are.

I'm already aware of the significantly slack visual inspection now compared to years back. No one gives a crap about the AIR system in my car (it's there, but not 100%) or the EFE TVS in the t-stat housing. not being hooked up to anything. No one tests EGR valves by lifting the diaphragm.

Did you want to play a particular card in this game or would you like to concede that the inspection station in AZ don't fully enforce emissions laws per federal and state law? Because that's a fact.

Opening up a discussion with someone and trying to set yourself up as an authority of some sort while at the same time posting you can illegally get them tags doesn't help your case.

I didn't ask for your life story lol it was literately just a question.
And nobody asked you if they're illegal so you comment is not relevant.

How new are your fuel injectors? Wonder if you have some leaking.
How is the compression? Timing to far Retarded?

Re: i help you with az emissions

Heres the report...

Injectors and timing need to be tested, Im unsure at this point but suspect one of those two.

I have the following parts to install, 1) as a matter of routine maint. 2) piece of mind in knowing they are new:

MSD cap-rotor-coil-wires, plugs (will check comp) TPS-MAP sensors (all other are < 6mos old), T'stat, valve cover gaskets (they are leaky) will do oil-filter change, clean or replace KnN air filter. For what its worth I had also planned a CS144 swap at this time too.

After all that I will retest and go from there, but I do suspect the injectors.

What is stock size 19#?

Stock for a 350 is 22#. Stock 305 is 19#. Using anything else will require tuning tables to be changed.

Southbayinjectors has some nice bosch 3's. Are you running a heated 02 with those headers and have you confirmed closed loop operation. The air pump can easily be taken out of the eprom /memcal programing but I don't believe this is your issue at all.

You'll need to provide a lot more information than this to get any type of help.

What engine swap? Fuel injected or carb? Exhaust setup? Catalytic convertors? How was it tuned?

305 to 350, edelbrock carb, catback/flowmasters, 1 cat, as far as tuning I don't know. I put a edelbrock performer rpm intake. New mini air cleaner and tons of replacement parts. Hei distributor.

Re: i help you with az emissions

Sounds like a professional needs to adjust the carb to get fueling corrected. It might also need a new catalytic convertor. Depending on the cam in the 350 you might not be able to get it to pass though.

If this isn't your primary car, you could just put it on collector car insurance and not test it at all.

How do you get collector car insurance? Who offers it and what is cost?

Most insurance companies offer a limited use collector car policy. The rules almost always include, 1) it can't be your daily 2) it must be garage kept 3) you have to have at least 1 other car as your primary that is not insured as a limited use collector car. Some will put limits on annual mileage. Some don't. It is an agreed value policy so the more coverage you ask for, the more expensive it will be and the more proof of value you will need to provide. But the insurance company will provide proof of this type of policy to the state and the vehicle will be exempt from emissions at that point.

I'm mainly wanting to know how to go about putting a different size engine in my car. I have a 5.0 mountaineer drivetrain and computer and willing to keep all emissions equipment, but want to install it in my Mazda Protégé 5.. I don't want to have to register it out outside of Phoenix just to bypass emissions. Is there any Kit car regulations that can be utilized? Are Kit cars like the Factory5 line that used LS and other plaforms register able here in AZ and wouldn't my situation be similar?

You should ask your question on a Mazda forum...

Well, this was just a general emissions question I had and this forum came up in the google search. Regardless of what vehicle I have, this post had info I was interested in since I live in AZ. The chance of me finding this person making the same post in the Mazda group would be almost zero. If my question violates the rules, let me know and I will delete it. Just so you know, If I had my choice , I would trade my crappy 5.0 and Mazda for an F-body and LS...Unfortunately, Finding someone to make that trade would be almost Zero also!!

I'm sure it can be done, but I'd be surprised if anyone here knows what emission controls are required for the year and make of your car to be in compliance...
