89a up north. tortilla flats is one of the worst there is, other than the view. it is the choppiest road known to man. mt lemmon is nice and long. but there might be snow on both mt lemmon and 89a this time of year but I take my firebird up to the 89a every year and run it. watch for cops they drive gto s and vettes up there and will act like they wanna race and once you smash the pedal its all over

I'll have to go up to Mt. Lemon sometime now I have my Camaro running well. I was going to do Tortilla flats in my Bronco, but I have yet to go there. I've heard its a beautiful view, but a rough road (hence why I was going to take my truck.)

I'm on the far East near Fountain Hills, so I think Tortilla Flats is only a bit South of me.

Salt River Canyon is always fun, but about an hour and a half drive from the east valley. One side to the other about 1/2 an hour. Only problem is traffic, sometimes it's a little slower and hinders the "fun" aspect of the drive. But, still beautiful and scenic and worth the drive up. Take US 60 to Globe-like you're going to go to Show Low. About 20 minutes outside of Globe. Or the Mogollon Rim-Stretch of about 5 miles of double lane twisties with higher speed limits and views off of the rim just on the other side of Payson. You're in for a drive either way, but it's always fun to drive.

Only problem with Yarnell Hill on Saturdays is the cops have lots of places to sit where they look down on you to clock your speed and then pull you over when you get to them. If you do that one on a weekend, keep your eyes open.

It's hard to beat Mt. Lemmon, I live right at the base off Catalina Highway, if anyone ever wants to take that run, let me know, we can meet at the house and head up!

"Yarnell Hill" St Route 89 is between Congress and Prescott (Yavapai County).
Tombstone is in southern AZ ( Cochise County).
Maybe you meant Jerome?
If you get onto 89A from 89 north of Prescott you get to get a few more twisties prior to Jerome. FYI during peak spring and fall "Cruise Season" DPS stations a pair of units to nail unsuspecting motorists. They are very social and will keep you on the side of the road forever... I suggest you bring munchies for them.

You can also take Iron Springs Road off of the 89 (north of Prescott) and go to Bagdad, AZ. Its a fun drive.
