Check out the pics! The first shows how much further back the shifter sits. That area needs to be trimmed 1.5-2 inches. The other pic is the trans from the bottom. That is just a temporary crossmember so we can locate the trans and where we need to cut the floorboard. And yes I have a McLeod clutch.
Just look for my contingency sticker! Its worth 10 more HP.

DAAYYYYUUUMMM, you guys don't waste time do you?!
Looks great, I'm sure you'll be loving the fuel economy on the freeway (I know I did).

S**T I was thinking the same thing. It's only Tuesday and you got that T56 in and almost working.
Tells me I need to quit my day job and start wrenching!

Congrats, Kevin, now you just need the torque arm to plant that rear end, or does that cause possible rear axle reliability problems? Oh well, nobody ever said racing was cheap. Have fun with it Kevin. With 2 overdrives, even you ought to get decent mileage, unless you don't get out on the highway where you can use sixth.

I've got a 9-bolt with 3.70 gears, it should be strong enough for low 12's. The TTA guys use them into the 11's but they have automatics. It should be enough gear to use 6th occassionally.

I got a used one from a wrecked 96 Trans Am. My dad and I had to pull it from the car ourselves. It cost $1000 for everything we needed off the car. The clutch was a Centerfarce so we sold that earlier, and bought a McLeod on Monday.
All credit for speed goes to my dad for doing the install, and me helping. I think he's worried about me driving his car, I might break his T5 too!
We installed the clutch master/slave cylinder, and notched the floorboard, this afternoon.
My dad is building a torque arm at the same time, now that I have a trans that can handle it. Hopefully we'll finish on Thursday, if not we have Friday/Saturday too.
