Help Car Is Still Messed Up
Help Car Is Still Messed Up
k the problem with my car is still happening. these are the things i have installed: fuel pump and all fuel filters, changed all the relays. My car is throwing code 33 and 36. 33 is MAF sensor and 36 is MAF burn off relay. i changed all of my relays so how is my car throwing that code?? and i was at Dons shop and we swaped MAF sensors and the car is still throwing the code 33 ( MAF sensor) so then we think its the computer, then Kevin hooks up the scanner and checks everything and the MAF air reading is constant i forgot how much air but its higher than its suppost to be then i give it some gas and the air reading is not even moving so he thinks it could be wiring or the computer then i swap computers with my friend Dale and still, the car is throwing code 33. with my friends computer in my car! so im thinking"what the hell???
" then i check the relay sockets and the relay on top of the ESC (i think its the burn off relay) the wires leading to the socket are exposed and filled with grease so then i went out and got a new socket and i replaced it with the new socket and yes all the wires are connected correctly with clamps, and still the car is throwing code 33. and when i drive for a long period of time ( 30min or so) the car starts to hesitate and when i give it gas it dosent want to go it just boggs and backfires
and i cant drive past 1500RPM or i cant smash the car and get on it i have to drive really slow and my temp is not even hot and my fuel pressure is at 48 PSI i had a tune up in febuary with new spark plugs...help guys this has bin going for almost a month now...i need to get her ready for fontana

Engine: Last time I checked...

Check the wiring again. It sounds like an electrical issue. Clean ALL the MAF related connections and also look for boken or frayed wires.
Hey guys not to be a nerd but have you ever followed the gm flow charts for either codes? they definately have helped me in the past. The burn off relay, i thought that was part of the maf....
And as far as having grease in relay sockets, thats usually some kind of dieletric grease or heatsink compound. Leave it in. I had a phantom 33 and or 36 for awhile. You have to remember that those codes are going to read if the sensors read out of range, but that might not be a fault of the sensor....it might be other variables causing it to read out of range...my maf codes came up right before my fuel pump killed itself....

Thanks Kevin. I always forget about that sticky
I am not used to looking at it. Now if I can only remember to look at it.
