Interior/4th gen seats?

Anyone know of any good interior shops? I need my passanger front seat re covered, my rear seats(upper part), and my headliner re covered....or if I can find some 4th gen seat for less that would be better cause out here they want $140 for the headline and another outraguos amount to do the seats... SO if any one has or knows of anyone who has 4th gen seats, drop me a line... Im not too picky about them-just in good condition, preferably cloth, in black or grey(or blue but I dont think they made them in blue)...Does anyone have pics of there 4th gen seats cause my dad just dropped this idea on me last night so I have never paid attention to them...

P.S. will they bolt straight in w/out altering anything?

TIA

Looks like it's my turn to help you today

Did you see my car at the meeting? The silver one? I had 94 cloth 4th gen seats in it. They were from a 94 Firebird. All 4th gen seats bolt right in to 82-92 no modifications. However, even cloth sets are going for at least $400. Usually.

$145 to recover the headliner??? No way. Go to Classic Industries in Huntington beach and get a NEW headliner covered for $169.

You want to do it on the cheap, take your seat apart, and remove the covers. Take it to a upholstery shop and have them make a new one using yours as a pattern. The covers are held on with Hog rings, which you can cut off with a pair of wire cutters, then you just peel them off. It cost me $40 to redo part of one of my seats that way, and only that high because I had to buy more material than I needed. I can't imagine one seat costing much more than about $130 if you stick to stock materials.

You can do the headliner too, Pep boys sells the material. Biggest problem there you will have is the backing usually is not that good. If your's is OK, you can remove it, pull the old material off, and the foam stuff can be brushed off with a stiff bristle brush. I use a tire brush for this.

If I were you, I'd save up enough to replace the entire headliner. But before buying it, take your old one out, see if it is intact enough to glue new material on it after brushing. If it is, just buy the material at pep boys ($40), and get 3M super adhesive spray ($8), and glue one on yourself. Just make sure to fold some over ALL the edges. Also, use LOTS of adhesive. If you think you put enough on, put some more

BTW, my brother lives in CC. Let me know if I can help more.

gpierce-yeah I saw your car at the meeting-looks great! I loved your seats... I was just wondering to myself what they were from...as for the price, my dad seems to think it will cost less but I though to would be more... I dont know what hes thinking...I was thinking about doing the headliner myself but wasnt sure where I could get the fabric...I think the backing is ok, its just that the fabric rips easily and you leave impressions in it if you poke at it(which friends love to do untill you threaten to leave them on the side of the road if they touch it again!)...Ill have to check it out...

Thanks!

If an impression is left when you touch the headliner, the foam is bad too. The foam is actually part of the cloth (they are bonded together, and that's why the headliner falls. The foam disintegrates and separates from the cloth.

740 shipped to yoru door, thats just the covers, you have to install them yourself or have a shop do it. You can get any color combo you want, he also has some more plain loking ones.

New headliner fabric??? Joann's fabrics, $11.99 per square yard, for a Hard top, I used 2 yards and had enough left over to redo the visors. (Felt kinda weird walkin in a store that mostly girls go to, but you're a girl, so you won't have that problem) TIP: Take one sunvisor with you to get the closest color match, and maybe buy enough to redo the sail panels so they match.
Take out your dome lamp and unscrew your coat hooks above your speakers and remove the visors.
Slide your A-Pillar covers forward, and then pull them towards the inside of the car.
Unclip the seatbelt cover things, drop the headliner.
Remove all the old Headliner, and brush off the disintegrated foam.
Lay on new headliner fabric, and cut the holes to match.
Spray 3M Interior Adhesive (NOT SUPER 77, that doesn't hold up in the heat of so cal) all over.
Installation is the reverse of removal. (I ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT!)

Slide A pillar covers forward? No way this worked on my 86. I needed to pry down a bit, and stick a small flat bladed screwdriver into the clip center part to pry it out. Even then I broke 2 of them. Been in since 86 so they were brittle anyway. Got some new ones at the dealer.

I have the part #'s somewhere.......

Don

While I was talking to my dad about the block I mentioned the seats to him and hes very interested and its a good price but he says he has no money and I have $100 to my name... but he is very interested and said he will probably talk to you about the seats when we go down to pick up the block...although he says we have no $$ he always seems to find some $$ when he really wants something!! I think he has a secret bank acount with $$ in it!!
