In light of recent events...

I think everyone knows what I'm talking about, no need to reiterate. I can see the ideas and thoughts behind it, I have to disagree with the implementation. Mike is more than welcome to take his shot, I wish him luck. Maybe this is the kick in the rear this club needs, but regardless...

About SC3G:

Anyone is welcome to be a member. As a member, participation is necessary for the club to survive. We have some 'die hard' members, and some new guys. The past few months, there has been a lack of events, or at least poor organization of turning any sort of gathering of members into what would appear to be a 'club event'. Such things would be like racing at Carlsbad or similar. Not all of us want to race. Some dont even want to sit around and talk about cars all the time, they'd rather go see a movie. Thats just people, different desires. So...

Anyone is welcome to propose or arrange an event or gathering of any sort. I personally dont care where, or who is arranging it. It could be a member of any one of the other clubs around here as well. Its not up to Lon, Bret, Kevin, George, or myself to be the only ones to arrange, hear, or decide that something can be a club event. If you have an idea, post it, talk about it to your friends, whatever. I'll admit that we've done little to arrange club events as the 'board of directors', but that doesnt mean we cant have any. This is a new club, only 8 months old. I think we are still trying to figure things out, find a direction to go. I have a couple ideas I am going to check into, see if we cant get some things going on. I think the following are a must:

A weekly meeting place, centrally located. Just a place we can hang out as a club, and being weekly it gives more of a chance for members that cant make a single date once every couple months to meet other members. Before people far off get upset, it just so happens that the northern to central part of OC is fairly central to just about everyone. My reasoning behind this isnt to have an event in my backyard (believe me I like the idea, but its not the purpose, its just a coincidence that so happens to be of benefit to me) but rather to have a place where most of the members have about the same distance to travel. And, its not the only thing we should have going on anyway, just another thing going on.

A bi-yearly, yearly gathering, non-racing event. BBQ, Nojquoi Falls (or however thats spelled ), a lunch/canyon cruise (not hotdog) event, something like that.

Same as above, but a racing type event. I forsee not renting a track for a day or something like that, but rather going to a track on a day where they dont already have a group of someone showing up, and get some 'club recognition' and thats about it.

We'll continue to have bi-monthly meetings to discuss club issues and kinda get together as well. Those that cant/wont make it, wont make it. Its not the end of the world.

Here's your chance to speak up... you want to arrange something or have an idea, lets see it, lets get it happening.

Representing the Central Coast Chapter post 101, I must say well said.
I've always felt a part of this club even as a northerner. I haven't been to any of this recent clubs meeting or much more then a few Famoso trips and a BBQ but feel I'm still active.
Nojquoi (na-ho-wee) is correct
I like the movie idea too. It would be a good project for everyone.

I'm organizing a large meeting of SCFB currently. I havn't posted such to the list yet, but I plan on letting anyone with an Fbody in So Cal come to this event. Socafbodies is so informal that I think it will be fine to have everybody come.

That's not to take away from any specific 3rd gen meets, just an FYI. More details about that one later, but I think the meet will be n OC somewhere. Irvine maybe.

On your comments about much of OC being central to most, I'd have to agree. I personally have been willing to drive at least an hour to any event. Valencia was a bit tough but now that I know to steer clear of the 5 I should be OK I need to get a fast track for the 91 though. I've ben using that FW so much lately, I shouldhave gotten one a long time ago. Lately, I hjave not had any time to come to any meets because of work being done to my cars. Ready to go now though

Lets' make some third gen meet plans, but I think a big meet with all gens is nice too

Ok, let continue rolling the ball (sotta speak). Chris, I'll be attending your get-to-gether. Dwayne, although I am very sorry for missing your excellent tri-tip event (yes, I'm kissing butt), can we still try and organize a No...Noj...what ever it's spelled event? Like we had in '99 (IIRC). Randy, were you refering to going to a movie as a group (like we did when we went to San Diego (South Park)?) or making a thirdgen movie? I can arrange that, guess I'll have to be the director/cameraman/editor. I'll work on the details ...

Edit: Greg, quit interupting. j/k Yeah, that event of multi-gens sound excellent. I'll be there. I need to get out more anyway, and if I stay busy during the weekends, work can't ask for me to work on Saturdays.

I'll find out more on No-joky falls. Other wise it's a first come first serve kind of pick-nick ground. Claim a big BBQ with tables and we're in.

I'm in for the make a movie thing. I can get some Central coast footage for ya. I can even do editing but I have no internet space to place them for others to view.

I meant a group going to the movies like the SD trip but, the third gen movie is cool too. I'd like to see the SD3G ressurected it had potential, I think if it was kept as a chapter and not a separate club it would be better then we could caravan up to the main meetings together.

If you want to go to a movie, take a woman and get some. :lala: Unless its a racing movie, I'm not interested.

The videos used to be on http://www.lugnutz.com/ but they've been taken down due to lack of bandwith.

I havn't read what everyone posted yet, but..... In regards to some sort of weekly/etc meeting...

How about rotating it around to different areas every other month, that way some people who would have to drive an hour-hour and half to a centally located area could get a break every now and then, and of course there is the downside that they would have 2-3 hours drives in other cases.

I always kinda leaned towards that... but as the saying goes... You can either make some of the people happy all the time, or all of the people happy some of the time...

Or get everyone mad at you all of the time, LOL (not that I've ever done THAT before )

CustomX,
Carlsbad to Valencia is a bit of a haul and no one expects you to make the trek.

There's no reason those of you in SD can't make arrangements to hang out. You don't have to form another club to do so and you can communicate thru this message board as members of SC3G. Plus, if you plan in the events in the SD area I'm some of us are willing to make the journey down on occasion.

Still, if you really feel the need to form another club, then by all means do so.

It doesn't have to be an actual separate club but sort of an informal casual type gathering.

I'd suggest we could go to SpeedZone, but someone might think I was trying to plan an event in my backyard. Of course have and am willing to travel North or South for a canyon cruise. GS3 did a nice lil cruise through Glendora Mountain Road this Spring. I need some incentive to finish getting my car back together.

I think Speedzone is a great idea, but we'd have to go in the afternoon. Its way too crowded at night. And I hear its a ***** hangout.

Have you been to DromoOne indoor go-kart track on Main & Katella behind the Katella Grill (northeast corner)? I believe your fathers shop is right near it somewhere.

My 2 cents

A friend of mine is a member of the local Miata club. They have socials, racing, wax days, install days, dyno days, meetings, and events. He can go to something everyday of the week. They have alot of people at each event. They share events with other chapters and other clubs. Granted, they have over 500 members, but I think we could use some of the ways they do things to improve our club.
