I've mostly gone to the ECOLOGY yards. The one in Wilmington on 1000 E. Lomita is good. There are a couple of other yards close by as well. That Ecology yard you went to in Santa Fe Springs (on 13780 E. Imperial Hwy). is the most heavily used of all the Ecology yards, so good finds are tougher. The other Ecology yard I've been to is in Bloomington (near Rialto) 221 E. Santa Ana Ave. Those are the closest 3 Ecology yards. Firebirds are stored at the back of each of these yards. So, even though they have fewer Firebirds than Camaros, you can have better luck on finding something on one of them rather than the Camaro. Also, don't forget to look at the other GM models. You'll find some parts for your cars on several other cars including the Fiero (headlight motors). They add and remove cars daily, so it is always luck of the draw if you find something good. Don't hesitate and go home to think about it. By the time you return, if it was worth taking it will be gone. If you are looking for specific restoration parts, such as interior items you'll have a lot better luck buying from House of Camaro (contact info under "SoCal Thirdgen friendly companies"). Interiors are quickly trashed on these cars in the pick-a-part yards. It is a shame to see an item you need destroyed because someone tore it apart rather than properly disassembling it for a $2 item.
Don't forget to pick up Free admission tix for the Ecology yards when you visit the LA Auto show. I'm assuming they will be giving them away as usual.
