Good source for Timken bearings?...

Does anyone have a good local source to buy Timken bearings and seals?

My usual supplier appears to be under new ownership and seems to be having trouble getting my parts in. I called on Thursday and was told they had them in stock. When I went in on Friday to pick them up it turns out they did not have a complete set afterall, but said they would get them in for Saturday. On Saturday I was told there was a problem at the warehouse and my bearings would be in on Monday morning.

It's now Monday afternoon and they still don't have them in. They are calling the warehouse to see what's up and going to call me back. In the meantime, I'd like to find a good back up source.

Thanks!

Okay, I heard back from my supplier. The word is that Timken itself has the outer (Set 3) bearings on back order. The inner (Set 6) bearings are no problem and my supplier has those in stock.

It's a good thing I'm not in a hurry to put my car together.

Thanks for the tip! I just looked at the AutoZone web site and sure enough, they list Timken bearings. Who knew. Most AP stores carry National or bearings made in China.

I'll be hitting AZ on my way home.

Yup, when I used to work at Chief's (now AutoZone), they sold only Timken.

There seems to be a drought on Timken Set 3 bearings in So Cal. I hit AutoZone and grabbed the Set 6 bearings and Timken seals. No Set 3 in stock althought their computer showed there should be 2 on the shelf. The counter guy then called two other AZ stores and they were out of stock on the Set 3 as well.

Glenn,
Thanks for the info. I'll see if my local AZ can get them sent over.

The saga continues. Back to AZ tonight. This time the girl helping me says they can't transfer parts from store to store. Only from the main hub store in L.A.

Well, they show 7 Set 3 bearings at the hub store. She says I'll have them here tomorrow around 12:30. Why the guy couldn't do that last night, I don't know.

FYI There is a little "Whole In The Wall" parts store on Sherman Way in Reseda that seems to have every different kind of Bearing you can think of. When I needed front wheel bearings for my wifes "MudStain" they were the only place that figured out and had in stock the correct bearings.
I will go by there this weekend and get the name, but its just a couple of doors down from Kragen.

AZ has been coming thru for me recently. I went through about 7 Pepboys starters over the last several months and from a day to a week they started dying and soon left me stranded. The AZ starter is still working and starting on the first try. But just in case I have a slightly used CVR min-starter on hand.

I was going to say James, "why don't you get a mini starter", but seems you got that covered.
