Ordered the posi!

Soon I'll have some 3:73's in a 9bolt.

I ordered an air condition delete pulley as well as a new fuel pump and AFPR.

With the new fp and AFPR I should be able to test the bottle soon!

See how much easier that was instead of rebuilding the Posi.

Easy on the rebuilt hard on the wallet. I'm running out of $ for the 6speed. I'll get one run with the new rear end and I'll have to replace the tranny.

AFPR - Adjustable fuel pressure regulater.

My old one was week and held together with a hose clamp

I ordered a holley one. It's nice billit and came with a new diaphram. I'd have it on by now but I can't find my special little torx bit.

C-Dawg - I'll probubly drop in mph but I was surprised with 115 anyway. I gotta get-a 12 on motor.

leo037 - I ordered the parts through 9bolt.com. He'll ship on Monday. I'll let you know when I get them.

I need to look into rear brakes while I have this rear end out. Who's got the good set up? Hey Don, didn't I see once that you had a good rear brake package? I'll call ya.

I may have found some used 9 bolt, later model, backing plates with caliper and rotors.

Are the pads the same for all 9 bolts?

If so, the total is $1K for a 9 bolt w/3:73's and PBR's.

With deals like this I can get the 6 speed and the trailer.

Pads as in brake pads? No, 82-88 use the same type, while 89-92 use another type. An 89 would be the best 9-bolt to get.

I just finalized the deal.

89 backing plates, PBR callipers, turned rottors and brake cble for $200 shipped.

The brake pads and calipers that were on the 9 bolt were brand new. I was thinking I could use the pads at least.

So does any body want the the earlier model plates, callies and rotors?

I have a buddy here in town that works as a mechanic at a Chevy dealership. He said he would help me do it. I'm not worried if I have his help.

The axle bearings looked great. This rear end only has 10K on it. It was replaced just before I bought it. The install kit should have the bearings and raceway so we'll press new ones on anyway.

Dwayne,
Who did you get that deal thru? For $200 I'd be in for a set.

Bret - I emailed a guy selling a 2:77 late model 9 bolt asking him if he was interested in selling the brakes only and he knew that was the only good stuff on the whole rear end so we cut a deal.

know we both have 2:77 posi's for sale

9bolt.com will have adaptable lower gears for the 2 series soon so it may be worth somthing some day.

I did receive the gears from 9bolt but the pinion and ring has a small nick in each and I awaiting his reply. Look at this picture and tell me if this is ok or not. I don't think it's OK but I haven't dealt with gears so I wouldn't know.

The posi unit looks bad as well but the marks look easily fixable.
I don't think this will be a problem but I expected the gears to be clean at least.

I just got an email from Miles the 9bolt guy. He said I could die grind and radius the chips and get $100 back or send them back and wait for a new shipment of gears to arrive.

I asked Miles and he said the posi unit IS new. I must have been kicked around some if it is.
I'm not worried about the posi since it's just a bump that can be filed or stone ground smooth to allow the ring to sit properly.

I'm mostly worried about the gears and wether they will last long or will these chips reduce the strength or whine or whatever.

Opinions???

After some investigation and checking with others the chips are not in critical contact areas and I can get some refund if I use them.

Can I use the week gears as a 2 car handycap and the jump?
