AC Delco at dealers only

Just returned from Kragen and the clerk told me that AC Delco products are only going to be available from the dealers. That when their, Kragens, stock is sold out thats it- no more.
Anyone else know about this.

so instead of asking for AC Delco I ask for Delphi and get the same junk?

Obviously this clerk was underinformed, but then he works for Kragen so what can one expect.

Yeah the same stuff, Delphi/Delco is one of the customers where I work. I believe Delphi bought Delco a couple years ago and it seems that they are starting to phase out the Delco name.

actually as I recall, GM spun off Delco as their parts making division and now they are slowly re-organizing as a truly independant entity. Sort of like what Ford did with autolite.

That's why I go to an AC Delco wholesaler in Van Nuys. Dealer parts at a much better price.

None of the AP stores seem to carry AC Delco (or Delphi) parts anymore other than oil filters. Everything is Fram or Purolater.

Well,
That sucks!
I wonder if AC-Delco parts will go up in value now!!
I mean, look at the AC Oil Filters.
PF 1218, with the writing on the box, listing the 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am, go for over $35.00 each! Without the writing (no listing of the car on the box), they go for $3-$4 each!!!

Time to get more plugs, that's for sure!!!!!

Later,

George

I heard about this when I went to Pep Boys to get an AC-Delco oil filter. Somebody said that AC-Delco (or Delphi, or whatever they are) is going to a Napa style of selling.

I might just start using the Wal-Mart brand from now on.
