First of all toss that 305 in an alley and drive off, its not worth rebuilding.
Second, i think your gonna need a little more than $100 seed money for your project. Thats a tune-up and not much else.

Its worth rebuilding if you like gas mileage and have limited funds. Not everybody can go out and get a 350. People forget you than have to get all new parts, machine work, etc...
Anyway rebuild is a good idea. Get some good pistons, Forged. Than you can drop a shot of Nitrous on there. You can get some L98 heads I believe for really cheap. Match the new pistons to the heads and get a 10:1 compression ratio. Get the heads ported. Best best is to get the Aluminum L98 heads from a late model vette. Get same compression ratio and they flow better and are lighter, and... and,... Etc... Put a cheap TPI system on there and you have 230-260 horses. No too shabby

Our 305 iron heads have 58cc combustion chambers, so do the 350 L98 Corvette aluminum heads. Our 350 iron heads have 64cc chambers.

With Vette aluminum heads, you need quite a bit more compression to get up around 10.5:1. The problem is that by the time you pay for forged pistons, and the machine work on the l98 or Vette heads, you could probably have bought a rebuilt 350.
