It could be that no one of importance at Fontana knows what is going on.
Their website states "racing one Sat a month" anyone know of a street legal race day at Fontana in Oct????
In thinking about it, Fontana is run almost exactly like Pomona was. Long drawn out tech insp. racing in groups. spending 12 hours to race for 45 seconds or less. Might be the Pomona people with a franchise at Fontana now.

And my feeling is they are going for the same results. No Street Legals and get their weekends booked with 'professional' events, seems like whoever is running the track is very driven by the bottom line (even though I did read above that supposedly the SLDs do make money for the track), but I am sure the events with sponsors themselves with less particpants and specators probably makes them even more. Though again the business logic is highly lacking because the location/construction of the track make it pretty limited as far as hosting a truely national NHRA type sized event.

We have talked with the tech guys at Pomona ... and guess what, they are the same ones at Fontana, we know them and they know us ( ). The SLD program from Pomona was moved over to Fontana. No the big-wigs at CASW don't know what is going on, and I don't think they care. That is why Fontana resesmbles Pomona, it is the same event just relocated to a city that has not yet complained about noise regulations. Knowing they were moving in next door to a National event racetrack!

At least have a session where novices can go in early and be taught the proper way to race and race track etiquette
Yes. Somebody needs to teach them the ropes, IE lane closest to the exit must exit onto the return road first, cars exiting the track have priority and return road traffic should yield, don't go through the waterbox unless you have slicks, etc etc...

The only thing with that track rental days were that I had heard it was not being ran like a regular drag day, meaning no safety crews, as well as very limited staff, not even sure about the staging lanes and slips.

Actually it looks like from the pictures that I was misinformed, I can see the full crew of staff as well as the saftey vehicles in the backgroud

** no safety crews: I have a cell phone and insurance

** very limited staff : They aren't helpful anyways

** staging lanes: small group = who cares

** timeslips: Just stay ahead of the other guy

Yeah or for $20 you get more frustration but at least the satisfaction of knowing you will get towed into the pits in front of all of your friends, right Vincent?
