Arnold is history...
..as far as I am concerned.
Arnie the Gov signed AB2683. Your 3rd gens will always have to be smogged.
He also banned a 50cal BOLT action rifle.
What a hyprocrite. He makes $millons in shoot-em-up movies then bans a bolt action rifle.
I don't know whose a** he is kissing but he definately isn't interested in helping the people of Calif.

Lemme see if i can wrap my head around this, because i am not very intelligent.
Arnold is a republican. He signed a bill making Calif. smog restrictions the tightest in the world and has vowed to fight lawsuits coming from the auto industry.

Republicans are the ones who voted for this clown. Do you guys want to recall a guy you voted for?

Well, he'll probably eventually get in trouble for a conflict of interest scandal.
The company I used to work for, Weider Publishing, recently hired Arnold to be Executive Editor for two of the fitness magazines. He is getting a salary, plus Weider (actually American Media, Inc.) promised to donate $250,000 to one of Arnold's charity organizations.
These magazines rely heavily on advertising from supplement companies. After the Ephedera deal, the FDA is looking to ban more products. Arnold is opposed to any FDA regulation of these products and as Governor has the final say on any propsed FDA legislation in CA.
Sooooo, with Arnold on the payroll, AMI ensures it's advertising base. Nice little arrangement. Why the media hasn't jumped on this I don't know.

Whatever you shoot with a 50cal is shot.
But thats not the point, why does Calif think it needs stricter guns laws than the Federal laws.
In another hairbrained Sacramento decision today, the CARB has passed a law requiring automakers to eliminate greenhouse gases and global warming by requlating tires, vehicle air conditioners, requiring 6speed trans's, hybirds, and "smart" cars.
Question; How does a pile of steel and plastic become smart?
Ans: Doesn't go to school in Calif.
And last I heard NO ONE has proven that greenhouse gases do anything or that there is such a thing as unnatural global warming.
I pray for the big one so Calif breaks off and sinks into the Pacific and takes all Calif government with it.

I expect the worst from politicians and I've yet to be disappointed. At least Arnold can't run for President, but then again he could not possibly be worse than the two dummys we have running now. Of course he wouldn't be any better than those two idiots either.

He's is centainly catering to someones interest for some kind of compromise by signing this. I read in the paper that even his good friend Jay Leno was suprised at this signing of the bill, and has made numerous phone call trying to sort out whats going on. G()d damn politicians
Edit: Oh yes, An do get ready to be stuck behind some tree huggin asswipe trying to maintain a rapid 50mph "solo" in the carpool lane with their battery powered piece of sh*ts. Ever seen what performance a cordless drill battery has after a few months of charges?

Now hold on don't kick him out to soon.. Just over a couple bad bills he signed.. He should serve his term and frikin work.. He should be able to balance a number of things out 50/50 that would be considered bettering Cali.. And with help with our vote.. And Im sure many people voted for Arnold that were not republicans..
I personally don't think that California is going to have a bunch of Casino's bringing in jobs.. As that would cause many issue's.. if Arnold gets these Indian Casino's to all pay taxes.. It would really benefit California.. Up north there is more Casino's being built on Reservation.. Those are all the Casino's we need in California..
As for the .50 caliper rifle.. Isn't that a small gun.. They probably don't want you shooting a Mountain Lion with it and not killing it.. And it rages and kills someone.. Or any other Human killing animal..
Now if it was a bill to stop carrying weapons as with proper permit's that be some major B.S

It states in the paper that this bill surpasses the current law of 30 years and older rolling exemption. No longer will the 30 yr exempt apply in the future, so any vehicles '76 and later will always require smog. 1975 and older still don't need to.

Regulating Firearms only affect the Law Abiding Citizen. Its a really tough concept to grasp because very few of those in a position to propose and lobby to pass the laws have ever been able to understand the concept. If you dont shoot or own any kind of Firearm, all the laws mean nothing to you until you need to own a Firearm. When the Riots broke out in Los Angeles, I could not believe how many people had absolutly no idea that there was a waiting period. Funny how important things become when it affects you personally. .50 caliber or .22 caliber it makes no difference to the Criminal Element. They dont have a waiting period and the law means nothing to them anyway. If you dont shoot then being able to put a 1/2 inch diameter projectile through a 1" dot at 1000 yards means nothing to you either. The point is its your freedom slowly being eroded away. Lyons Drag Strip, San Fernando Raceway all long gone. Just a few more nails in the Performance Car Enthusiast Coffin. Add a few more restrictive Smog Laws and drive in a few more nails. I didnt vote for Arnold because I figured he was B.S. from the get. I wonder how many people are saying "Boy I thought he would be different today"(Jay Leno) ........

Just for the uninformed. The last time I shot a .50 it was someting like $3.00 a shot. The Rifle I was using cost something like $3000.00. Hardly something for the casual target shooter. Also not something easily put together in the "Kitchen" from parts bought at one of those "Infamous Gun Shows". But again the Criminal Element isnt waiting for a gun show and I doubt the guys in the drive by were either. ....

What they talked about in the paper today mentioned something about new cars having to meet a standard by like the year 2010... Where can I get the information about how it affects us older car owners?
It seems like Arnold is just doing this to get the votes from environmentalists. Wouldn't the next governer just repeal the act anyway, since it won't go into effect while Arnold is in office?

Was this, by any chance, on the Bay Area peninsula? I'm guessing not in which case I'll have to say things are getting worse in this world. Something like that happened on I-280 and about 2 weeks before that some guy in a Mercedes got poped in the head going 80 and south on 280 near Woodside.

I did call the police and they had no other calls.. And I could not see a lic. plate I tried to look after I seen 5 rounds of light come out of a hand.. I tell you what I got out of there quick and I felt really unsafe just by what kind of car I was in..
So ending to that story.. I just wanted to more less say Arnold may not be the greatest.. As for this it's kinda 50/50 for the world..

Shooting is a hobby just like cars. There are Ferraris, Vega's and everything in between. You get what you can afford and what your interests are. Shooting is a sport like racing where talent/skill and quality equpiment come into play. Not every gun is for hunting. A 50 cal is for long distance shooting. If you won't get a rush from hitting a small balloon 750 meters away then.....but you'd rather just project your ignorant views onto everybody else.

Find me an answer to this. How many people in the US were killed by a .50 cal over the last two years? T
hey are pretty rare due to their cost and cost to shoot. Like I said the challenge in them is to hit something you can barely make out with the naked eye. If you haven't tried it then you don't know what you're missing.

The gun will not kill someone unless someone picks it up and pulls the trigger. If they want to kill someone and don't have a gun, you think that will stop them from using another method?
Don't give me the stray bullet crap either because someone and easily take out a hundred pedestrians with a car going after someone sitting in a resturant, walking on a sidewalk, ramming their car into someone house and killing someone else untargeted , etc, etc.
If it were my world, I'd be enforcing the laws on the books now and I PERSONALLY would be shooting the people that kill someone else with a gun due to NON-self defense in a firing line.
Eye for an eye in my world. I personally don't want to incarcerate some lowlife for 10 years to have him live a free life after that if he kill a loved one of mine- I'm no hypocrate and will not wait till it were to happen to me to act or change my mind on the death penalty.
We need a law on the books right now stating that the first-of-kin to the victim has the right to decide the fate of the criminal. It would be that persons decission whether the criminal gets the death penalty foir killing someone or not. The criminal would have to risk that chance if convicted for murder. (Again- if only I could run things)

I found a website that lists the bills that Arnold signed and has all their details.
http://www.schwarzenegger.com/en/new...=uptotheminute
I thought the AB2128 bill was interesting, that's where the government pays $1000 to people who junk their gross polluters. Isn't that an old law that used to exist?

I think the old law is still on the books which allows stationary power plants and industries that are gross polluters like refineries to buy your old junker running or not and crush them instead of cleaning up their act.

The SMOG law isn't really going to affect those of us with cars that run halfway decent. And we ALL know that if we have a really trick car that won't pass SMOG, and we really want to drive it on the street, there are plently of shops that will take $150 to $300 and SMOG your car anyway. Then you're good for two years.

I personally have a '77 El Camino that is completely stock and gutless. The smog crap chokes the motor and gives me terrible gas milage on the smog vehicle design, I could upgrade this car in two years and make it run better and cleaner using less fuel to get me there- No I can't. I have a "68 Vette that only sees an occational weekend event and is stored 99% of the year. If I ever had to smog that I would loose value of the car bigtime and render it useless after all the money I have "Legally to this point" put into it over the years. I have a '67 Cooper I just bought and plan to extensively modify because its "legal to" when I bought it. They change this exemption in the future and I am screwed with this car seeing very little street time also in the upcoming future. These law changes can and will someday affect your pocket book also in some way or some other forum- don't be a skeptic and think because it doesn't affect you now, that law changes may never in the future. Hope that "not my problem, doesn't affect me" attitude bites you back in the future.

And we ALL know that if we have a really trick car that won't pass SMOG, and we really want to drive it on the street, there are plently of shops that will take $150 to $300 and SMOG your car anyway. Then you're good for two years.

As for the buy the guy off thing, less and less are doing this because of the BAR. The guy who I've gone to in the past is extremely hesitant about doing it at all anymore because he already got busted once a couple years ago... and I've known him for 10 years.
This is not to mention the hassle with the Test Only crap that we're all getting nailed with. Out of the 3 cars I have to smog, 2 of them were test only. Usually I just drop my car off, he pre-tests it and fixes it if need be, and runs the test. With the test only, all I can do is hope that when it goes there, it passes. If I want to do any pre-test and repairs, I have to do that on an entirely separate trip. With working 8-5 and most places open only those hours at best, it makes it really hard to take care of this stuff and not lose money from missing work.

For the record, it is 30 years and older. 1974 and older. 75-(whatever year had OBDI) apparently doesnt matter?
In texas, only certain counties get smogged (1980 and newer), and no matter what year, diesels do not.

The article happens to report that by the time this bill takes effect, 1975 and older will be exempt and anything '76 and newer will apply.
Do you have comflicting facts you can post that we don't hear out here?

"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites) has signed a bill requiring that cars 30 years and older be tested under California's strict smog regulations, closing a loophole over the protests of classic car collectors, including "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno."

Get your facts straight and mind your own business, you calculated the 30 years yourself and know nothing.
