Summit ET Finals results

Just thought I should inform my 3rd gen buddies of how we are doing, you can also keep up to date on our prgress at our website and message board. So please stop by and say

We got back from the Summit ET Division 7 Finals Sunday afternoon. We got to Famoso at 8am and waited in line for our pit spot with our team, Team Irwindale! Our first test run was at 1:30pm, I had no idea what it would run. I could only speculate. She does a nice burnout and clicks off a .005 light on her way to a 12.226 @ 110.05 with a 1.621! Holy smokes, this car is quick, I believe the DA for that time was around 2400’. We entered the Low-Ball Gambler’s race to try and get more test and tune. This would not allow us to get time trials that day for the Summit Race. I dialed her in at 12.20, but second guessed it and changed it to 12.19. She clicks off another .007 light with a 1.611 60’ on her way to a 12.194 @ 110.13 … she gets the win with a .011 package! The other guy ran an 11.65 on an 11.52 with a .001 light, the reaction didn’t matter on that run! That was it for runs on Thursday night. We head back to our hotel and watch the two videos at Finish Line sports bar, everyone there loved the videos and wished her luck! Got up early again on Friday to be at the track by 7am. At about 8:30am they ran our group in the Gambler’s race. The DA was unbelievable, down to mid-1500’! I dialed her in at 12.0 not knowing what the true potential of the car was. She clicks off a .046 light on her way to a 12.02 @ 110.86 with an incredible 1.571 60’! She gets the win light, but no time slip. We had to go into the tower to get a written copy. Next round is at 2pm and I dial her in at 12.17 based on my Altronic’s PerformAire readings. She clicks off a .051 light on her way to a 12.165 @ 110.42! Damn, she broke out, but so did the other guy, he runs an 11.404 on an 11.47 with a .184 light. Some said she pushed him to break out more, I think we got lucky. So far she has made it through three rounds on her way to a $5600 jackpot! Round four is at 7pm. I dial her in at 12.00 based off of my readings again, she clicks off a .049 light and runs a 12.215 @ 109.31. Damn, I miss judged, but that is OK the other guy cut a .025 red light. I learned my lesson and dialed her in at 12.19 for the next round at 7:45pm. She clicks off a .103 light, she is starting to get tired from not sleeping well and it is starting to show, on her way to a 12.256 @ 108.84. The other guy breaks out! Round number 6 and I dialed her in at 12.22. She clicks off a .124 light on her way to a 12.230 @ 109.28, not going to get it. The other guy gets a .025 light and runs an 11.84 on an 11.78 dial. She was one round out before the money round, we could have had over $700. Oh well she did great in my eyes and in Irwindale’s eyes. Amazingly the car cut a 1.602, 1.601, 1.603, 1.606 60’ back to back, this car is going to be a great bracket race car. On Saturday morning we get another test and tune for that day, she clicks off a .007 light and runs a 12.116 @ 109.86 with a 1.583 60’. We added more fuel to the car in hopes of slowing it down and not have it run an 11.99 without a cage. NHRA was strictly enforcing all the rules for this event, and we did not want to go home because a technicality. Sportsman eliminations started at 7pm for us. I had a lot of time to think about the dial in and only watched the temps go from 89 to 69. I originally had her dialed in at 12.18, but then I changed it to a 12.12 right before she ran. The other guy was playing games and slowly staging. She was not going to let him get out of the hole quicker than her. He finally stages. Her light comes down and she clicks off a .028 light, here he comes to out off the hole with a .028 light. This is a driver’s race now! She clicks the timer off with a 12.225 @ 109.52 on a 1.610 60’. He runs an 11.484 on an 11.39 dial. Damn! I royally screwed her, I should have left the dial in at 12.18. She blamed herself for not doing so well, but we all know it was not her fault. We packed up everything that night and headed to the hotel to get some sleep for the drive home. The next Summit ET Finals will be at Phoenix and we will be there, hopefully in the race of champions! At least the car posted a new best and Team Irwindale was very happy to have her on their team and hope we stay with them, we will. That is all for now, next up for the car is a heads and cam package from Strictly Performance that will put this car in the 10.50s at Famoso or Fontana with a car weight of 2700lbs!

I would like to thank Tom *** for helping me with my B&M project, He is a valuable resource that is always willing to help car enthusiasts.

Also, my Z28 is finally leaving. Randy was lucky enough to get the 3.73 disc rear with an eaton posi, hope it works out well for you Randy. It is Lae's old differential, btw.
