Discharing Refrigerant
I went to Cormier Chevy here in Carson, and they wanted to charge me $150 to discharge my refrigerant for my AC.
Is this the going rate? That seems real expensive to me.
Anyone knows of a place, preferably in the southbay (but doesnt have to be) that does this kind of thing for a lot cheaper?

Thats what I thought too, but not according to Cormier.
I'll look around.
Now that I think about, maybe the guy thought i wanted to REcharge my system, instead of DIScharge it.

#2- They have know way to know for sure what freon is in your car. Most wise shops will do an analysis to make sure nobody put propane in your a/c before they recover it. It is highly illegal as well as dangerous, but the characteristics of propane is identical to r12 except r12 is not flamable.
That said, any a/c shop will recover your freon for less than the dealer because their labor rates are probably lower than the dealer's rates.

Are you taking the AC off completely or just getting it out of the way for now?
I won't need to discharge it for what I have to do.

Ken, bring it on over. I can discharge it for you for only $20 dollars and I'll even sale you an overpriced cup of joe to drink while you wait in my backyard oasis of trees and birds. Just pretened the noise you hear coming from my garage at that moment is me cracking open a Budweiser and the pressure is escaping.
Like Califonia is going to save the world when the rest of this 3rd world earth is creating 95% of the polution and we are exorbinately overcharged for not creating a mere .01% in California and some fat democratic politician here is using that taxed income he's making from us peasants to heat a 10,000SF mansion all week he probalby only visits on weekend. How much polution you think that fat cat is causing? how about the fuels in their private jets? F*ck em, I say let er rip. You are actually saving polution by not lining their pockets so they can buy more mansions and **** on us.

Reminds me of a joke I heard tonight.
One guy asks, "Ever seen an ice cube with a hole in it?"
Other guy replies, "Yeah, my wife."
Yes I have been drinking tonight
Goodnight
