Engine Cleaning in San Diego

Does anybody know of any good auto detailers in the San Diego area that do engine cleaning? And if you have had this done did you have any problems like electrical afterwards?

I was reading my GM repair manual the other day and it said that if the engine is to be steam cleaned or hosed off, make sure the TB is covered, the alternator, and the smog pump. Absolutely make sure that those are covered when they do the cleaning. It may not be necessary and you might get away with it, but if the GM manual suggests not to get those parts wet, I would trust it.

Sorry I can't help with your question though, just thought I would give you a heads up.

I usually just spray the heck out of it with engine brite, (about $2.50 a can) let it sit for 15 min, and drive a short distance to a pressure car wash. I then hose it with the low pressure rinse wash to remove the foam and cleaner, then I high blast the heck out of it. The only thing I cover is the throttle body. (K&N cone filter) Afterwards at home I get a long handle brush with some car wash, and go over the hoses and things again. After everything dries I spray the hoses and stuff with Formula 2000 or some Armor all, let it dry and wipe off the excess. It works for me. However I wouldn't recommend this with a show paint job.

I just use diluted Simple Green and the mist setting on the nozzle at home. Then I use 2001 or whatever the name changed to recently, for all the hoses and plastics.
