$64,000.00 Question...

When impact is imminent, do you gamble on your 1LE’s supplying the crucial amount of negative acceleration needed (without locking up) to avoid a catastrophe and if not, possibly putting your L03 in the passenger seat next to you, or slip the car into a power slide and sacrifice a $1,500.00 wheel and rocker panel?

I chose the latter…but now I’m starting to wonder why…

My pappy used to say "If someone is going to cause you to wreck take them with you or you suffer alone". He spent time as a Greyhound instructor.

Those of us who can drive always try to avoid the other drive-challanged motorist, whereas the drive-challanged motorist has no clue as to how to avoid a accident and continues in their prestated path, therefore we end up with the damage and no one to sure.

Sorry about the broken leg, there are three others but none are extra. And you can't put it in a cast in the garage for a few months to let it heal.

It’s really the inconvenience factor that irritates me. Now I’ve got to dismount the tire, send the wheel out to be repaired, remount the tire, have it balanced, have the car realigned (provided the steering linkage hasn’t been compromised), and if I’m lucky we’re back to normal.

I assume from your post that you somehow got to other "party" to pay your damages?

Or were you playing over the abilities of a 3rd gen.

Well that's a lot better than a impact.. Im sure the best choice was made.. Your now not involved in dealing with a 64,000 problem..

Repaired? Hmmm, I'm not sure that can be repaired. Even if it can, I don't know that I'd want to be driving on it. Especially the way Mike drives.

Might have to pop for a new wheel.

Here’s the scenario, I’m following a Honda Accord headed toward an intersection where the light is red. Upon approach the light turns green. Every one on either lane of said intersection is stopped, however there is no stopped in our lane as we approach. The Accord is roughly 4-5 car lengths in front of me as we proceed to cross the intersection. Keep in mind we never stepped on the brakes seeing as the light had just turned green and the lane was empty. This is when some desert rat Glamis bound dick head decides he’s going to go deep into the throttle and see if he can pull off that last minute left hand turn. Well he did…right into the side of the front left corner of the Accord. So here I am, at speed roughly 4-5 car lengths behind an Accord that has just been moved over two lanes and what’s left of an F-150 now rolling into my lane. Given the circumstances, I’m ok with paying the $240-260 it’s going to cost me to get the Goose back on the road.

I can't stand those sky-jacked trucks that drive around like their a freakin stock car. See it all the time...
Sorry to it hear dude, so the guy with the F-150 is paying for everything...
Bright wheels does good work, they might be able to work with that. It cost you half what the wheel is worth though...

I’ve had these repaired a couple of times before. The advancements in wheel repair over the last few years have been amazing. They are able to repair alloy wheels now a days without significantly compromising the integrity of the metal.

1 wheel is better that a fender.. a hood.. support brackets.. paint.. lights.. bumper.. and quite possibly whip lash or other body injuries..

I have the result of "Impact" sitting in my driveway. So far its hovering right close to $5000 out of pocket.Of course I would have spent more than that getting the other car close to what I bought to replace it, but the time and inconvience is staggering.
By the way does that "Spanish Masonary Tape" come in "Emerald Green".... My new ride is in need of some.

Unfortunately not…not to worry though! Being Mexican and all, I’ve got an endless assortment of rattle cans available for color matching. Wait…I think I left my can of green on the bumper of a bus I was “customizing”. No worries, I’ll just slip another can in my pocket the next time I’m casing a Pep Boys.

Yeah…it’s kinda boosted my already overly inflated ego when the officer that took the police report commented on how impressed he and his partner were that I was able to not only react fast enough but to demonstrate the amount of vehicle control that it took to place my vehicle where I did.

I’m ok but I won’t lie to you, my ego is a little busted up. It would have been nice to come out of it completely intact.

You're gettin older man, the reactions aren't what they used to be. 10 years ago you would have skated by blowing the horn and flipping the truck driver off.

You forgot while lighting a cigarette, chatting up some broad on the cell phone, and looking for the right CD to put in the dash….

Getting old sucks!

reminds me of a street race.

Left the light, lighting a cigarette, shifting a 4 on the tree Mercedes, while negoating a left hand sweeper.

I not only beat the guy on the right but reveled in his wide eyed amazement.

The only reason I was able to half assed attend this event is because I work two blocks away from the shop where it was being held in Stanton. So in between customers I would hop in the Tahoe and haul *** down the street to watch the pulls.

As far as “another” event goes…its hard to say not having weekends off. I suppose if another “grudge match ” of some sort were to surface I might be able to get some time off.

My man Ken over at Andersons Frame and Alignment is the only guy I trust with the delicate task of lining it all up.

Those little cars are awesome! I’m afraid my signature girth might interfere with my ability to drive one.
