Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
Some big changes are being made to some of our combos. I'm still ahead of the ball game but who is going to catch up? Don't be suprise what you might see when I hit the streets again. One thing for sure is that I can't be caught.

Wow... you better get some big Brakes to stop that thing.
P.S. your LS1 Brake parts are done you can pick them up any time.

Don may knows some of my tricks but that doesn't mean he can out do some of my tricks. Say James, are you going to get back in the thirdgen game? I miss beating you up on the streets.

Yep, you beat me up on the streets too bad you blew up your transmission and then you engine in the process. It was so much fun that I even let Mike take a couple free shots at you and take you down a peg or two. Too bad you never showed up at the track those times like you said you would...it isn't any fun when you bring your mom's stock car to the track....LOL.
Well come spring time perhaps I will be able to get back into the ring and make you guys redo your combos to be competitive...LOL.
Sp Julie was accused of having Nitrous for her car? Was this at the track, by a passenger, or after a little street rump?

With new heads and cams on the market such as the AFR Elimators your job will be easier. However I'm looking forward to the challenge. Don probably has the best exhaust in the market.

Re: Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
When ever you are ready James with your thirdgen. I'll be waiting.
As far as my tranny goes, it is now stronger than ever. The oldest thing in the tranny is 5th gear. No more stock worned out parts.
Mike only had one lucky shot and won by half a car lenght with the best tune on your car. My car wasn't dyno tuned yet. All the other times you and Mike had gotten ya'll asses whip by me on the streets and on the FWY.
As far as my engine blowing up, that was just a broken valve spring and bent valve. I never had that problem again.
This time around James you will have to earn the rights to get to the top. Right now there are at least 5 people you will have to go through before you get to me. Start from the bottom then work your way to the top.

Re: Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
Ha...my car was never dyno tuned. My car was never on a dyno without the air filters in place. Every chip I made for my car was the best tune it had and every chip it ran was used for both its daily driving duties and for the racetrack. No special tunes. No special chips. I did what it did.
I just wish the racetracks were as accessible and fun today as they were back in the early days of Fontana.

I know, I break the rules regarding smog. But I know when my car is running, I will be damn eager to get some miles on the Iroc, and so cal sounds like so much fun! As soon as I am confident the car is truly a street car and I can make long trips without worry.

Bring it on down. I would love to beat up on some NORCAL guys since most of them did not show up at Famoso(Bakersfield) Raceway.

Re: Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
I see a lot of improved cars on the horizon. Should have an easy 10 second car in the mix, a few in the 11 second bracket and some in the low 12's. Then some more in the mid and upper 12's.
One of the unkowns will be Troy's GTA. Lot's of potential but we will have to wait and see.
Then there is James. Will he or won't he?
Can't forget Ken. He has been making noises about another 3rd Gen. His last one had a lot going for it.

I dont think we will be ready before the end of the year, but watch out for next year. With all the thirdgens for sale lately, Ken and James could get back into this.
No nitrous, but Allen meant we will be running so fast at the LA Invasion, the 4th genners will think we are using nitrous.
I hope the NorCal guys come down for this event.

Yep one of the cars I think will be in the 11 second bracket. By the way I have the intake system you should have on your car. I think I will bring it to the October meeting at Rickies and Ronnies. I should be pretty much done with it by then.

I can neither confirm nor deny that Jimmy is planning on getting back in the game however he and I got together last night for a couple of cocktails last night and a certain someone had a couple of autotrader magazines in the back seat of his superfantastic wasabi mobile with a handful of two tone 85 & 86 Z28’s circled. All I know is that if this boy decides to build another third gen, it will definitely be an e-ticket ride.

Re: Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
Off the car. I still have some things to do and I figure another 4 weeks or more. Might have it reflowed again, still some machine shop work to do, got to have the manifold shaved to match the heads and then I have to get the underside of the manifold coated. Those things eat up time.
I would expect it to flow in the 310 to 320 cfm area from the previous 301cfm out of the box. I did not open the ports up very much as they were already close to the tuned size I need for my motor to operate best in the 4400 to 6200 rpm range. Mostly worked on the 2 1/2 percent taper.
I have the runner opening side of the intake manifold at 1.85". It would be no problem at all to go to 2.00" or larger if the application called for it. The First Injection intake manifold and the SLP runners are a good match in the since that you can do a lot with them.

Re: Who will stay on top by the end of the year?
No. It goes from 2.68csa to 2.21csa at the head. Then to 2.05csa at the pushrod pinch area in the head.
With the proper SLP's you could increase the 1.75" at the runner to 1.8" with say 3" of runner inside the SLP's with the rest siamese.
In other words you would have the SLP's match your 1.75 at the manifold and then taper up SLP runner to 1.8" or so at the end of the runner inside the SLP.

So that means more less your going for it. We know your looking, just call the shot and say Yes! It's not always just trying to take the top, It's having a super nice 3rdgen to drive.
So Vincent open to run the bigger cubes, so next year will see who really has the fastest street car. My goal this year to beat his 1/8th 8.00. I think I can do it.
