Najoqui Falls cruise Sat August 22nd

Dwayne has agreed to get us a spot for a cruise and bar-b-q to Najoqui Falls park in Solvang, CA. He's going to make his famous tri-tip steak, but we'll need to chip in $5 a person to cover his costs. We'll also need bring side dishes and drinks, as we did for our bar-b-q last month at Mile Square Park.
We'll start at Dyno Don's shop in Orange around 9am, and head north on the 5 to the 101 freeway towards Solvang. We'll have another stop in LA/Ventura for those of you who live up there. That should put us at the park around noon, as it takes 3 hours or so.
So who is interested? Its two weeks from this Saturday, so sorry for the short notice.

Tony, we'll be past Ventura by the time you get off work. It is three hours from here to Nojoqui Falls and we plan to arrive @ 12:00 noon. Just come North when you get off work. Solvang is only about 1-1 1/2 hours North of you isn't it?

Yeah yeah.... I've been lurking for years... (since 9/11 really, but my life has been quite hectic since then). Alas, I have reconnected with Kevbo on Facebook (yes I can hear the groans) and would LOVE to go on this cruise, but I am scheduled for duty that weekend. I'll see if I can get that weekend off, but not holding my breath.

I will try to make it. I guess i'll have to meet the OC crew somewhere off the freeway since I'm coming from Riverside Ca. Anyone from the I.E. wants to caravan and meet up with the OC somewhere off the 101?

There's a park-n-ride at the Lankershim off ramp near Universal Studios. If you exit northbound 101fwy at Lankershim Bl. the park-n-ride is right there. And the on ramp back to the 101 is there also.

To my knowledge there are no large hotels in the area, but there are a few smaller ones in Solvang as well as in Buelton just to the West of Solvang about 5 miles or so. Also, Santa Barbara is not very far to the South.

Do we want to start another thread to sign up for what we are going to bring to the party, or should we just add it to this thread?

Re: Najoqui Falls cruise Sat August 22nd
I can bring soda. Do we need more salad besides the salads that tom is bringing?
I hope the wild fires are out by next weekend. There is one burning out of control between Santa Barbara and Solvang as near as I can tell by reading the reports.

Re: Najoqui Falls cruise Sat August 22nd
The La Brea fire is way on the other side of Solvang and no threat to the GTG except for maybe some ash falling but the wind will make that call.
We have 20+ comming ...med amounts of Mac and potato salad may be enough.
We'll have beans and bread as well.

Re: Najoqui Falls cruise Sat August 22nd
I just looked at the California Wild Fires board and noticed that the fire is now 100% contained, so hopefully it will be out by the time our barbeque gets here.

Dwayne, I invited a few SCFB people like Dan, Ken, and Christine. Dan is bringing water.
Its just me, the wife has to work because its back-to-school time. I'll bring her fruit salad and some diet coke.
Travis, make sure you come down the 101 this time.

Hey Rich! WOW it's been a long time....glad your still around.
I'll be getting there early to save the same BBQ pit if possible. I'll get my wife to deliver the wood in the burb.
I'll get 1 bag of tri-tip = 6 tips...hopefully that will be enough.
