Im looking into getting some headers. I need them to be Cali/Smog legal since this is my daily driver. I was looking at the Hooker 2055 headers. http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker/520/2055/10002/-1
Are these worth it/good? Or is there something better out there for Cali cars?

 

The smog portion of the hooker 2055's work and attach well to the stock AIR system. I didn't even have to bend or modify a single AIR hose when I installed my 2055 headers they just dropped right in and bolted up. Just be ready for a bit more heat coming off of the headers if you don't have them coated right away.

And to the OP.

2055's are a b!tch to install (in my opinion) because of the lack of room to negotiate with. But everything does bolt on to the factory exhaust manifold locations. Except with the driver's side air hose I needed to get a small 2-3 inch length rubber hose about 1/12 inches in diameter from auto zone to connect the air tube from the 2055 to the air hose.

And you need to find something to connect a new air compatible catalytic converter to the air tube if you do decide to do that instead of reusing the stock catback.

This of course is only possible if you adapt the 3 inch y-pipe to the 2 1/4? stock diameter size.

 

They work well but will be tight in some spots when you need to change the spark plugs

 

I think your remark is out of line. Unlike the hookers. Don's headers are relatively easy to install, spark plug changes are easy if the headers are not hot, and they are engineered to fit our cars specifically with the necessary wye pipes available to fit single or dual carts. He only posts when someone asks about headers, Should he be silent and let the guy buy something else that won't work as well or fit the engine bay as well just so he doesn't appear to be "advertising shamelessly." I almost posted a recommendation for Don's headers when I saw this post, but had to leave for an appointment. I have them on my car after trying and failing to find a way to keep SLP's from loosening up the bolts and blowing out the gaskets constantly. Don's headers were installed, the bolts tightened and they have never loosened up. I have about 1 1/2 inches of clearance between the left header and the steering shaft, unlike the SLP's that neede the "header bash" to clear.

i got edelbrock 50 state legals off summit on mine.....sounds good...just that i keept burnin my plug wires as well as other electrical components
just make sure you re-route everything....i did, and no problems yet
