drum vs disc

I have a 1991 rs great car 230k miles on it. I plan on rebuilding the engine when my v6 dies and im planning to have my car for another 10 years+. Make a long story short, I came across a axle off a 89 iroc 5.7 i took it off his hands for 80$. Would it be worth it do put this axle comes with disc breaks on my 91 camaro rs. And how much would the work cost. I was hoping under 600$ for labor parts everything. Pros and Cons ? I have always wanted disc and will look much better when i put c6 rims on my car

Re: drum vs disc

you mean a rear end not axle right, you might want to check the gearing that will let you know whether it's worth it or not. might be 2.77 or 3.27

Re: drum vs disc

it should just be a direct swap unless you want the rear end rebuilt then its like $400 bucks

Re: drum vs disc

i used to think there was really no BIG difference in drum vs disc. but after swaping the rear on my 91 from drum to disk, i felt a difference especially when it came to wet weather.

Yeah it is. The difference between disc brakes and drums is pretty significant. I've driven cars equipped with both and found this to be the case every time.
