WTB Camaro Driver side Fender and Door

If anyone in SoCal has a driver side fender and power window door, please let me know. I need to get these items ASAP to repair my '91 convertible. If anyone can help I'd sure appreciate it (and toss in a case of beer 8>)).

Re: WTB Camaro Driver side Fender and Door

Hello Duck,
Wow what a accident you had, and it is good you are okay. I am not sure if this helps but about 2 weeks ago I saw a camaro convertible with the driver side door and fender in okay condition. I saw the car in the pick your part in Wilminton, but the car was black. I am not sure if the car is still there. I am planning on going myself tomorrow to the pick your part and ecology here in Wilminton, Ca.
If you want I will see if I find a red convert with the driver side in good condition I will let you know in case I find one

You're not going to let the insurance company fix your car?

Well, I'm going to try. Collision Experts on Obispo Ave in Long Beach looks fully capable and the warranty is excellent. However, my expectation is that the damages might exceed the value of the car. If so, I need to be ready to fix the car in stages, such as having a body shop only install and adjust the door and fender. My first body shop estimate came up with $800 for just the replacement fender and door and then another $1,200 to repair the body damage and install them ... I actually laughed and said I could get those parts used for less than $200. That's how they make money. The painting would be $1,200+ but I can do it for around $200. My approach is all about being ready to save the car - whatever it takes. Be assured, I will let the insurance company pay me the most I can get to fix my car!

Yeah, it was a big surprise. One moment I'm cruising down PCH with a big smile in my bright red convertible - the next moment my window is filled with grill and I'm stunned being pushed sideways by a big truck. People that have seen the damages said new cars wouldn't have protected me as much.

Yes, please let me know what you find out there in salvage-land. I'll have to make the decision where to take the Camaro for repairs on Monday. You can post the info to this forum or PM me. Thanks, Ed

Remember conv. fenders are different but you can mod them to fit if you save the special bracket and cut the regular fender to fit.

Fortunately the unique rear fenders are OK. It's just the driver side front fender that's smooshed, I thought those are the same throughout the body styles. Please tell me more about the "special bracket". The door is beyond repair too, and I'm quite happy that the annoying rattle inside there is finally gone.

Do to the bracing under the rocker panels, the fender is cut off and a bracket with a funny shape is attached to hold the fender.

By the end of Monday I'll have a decision based on estimates. My inclination is to let the most advanced body shop with a life-time warranty do the work. After all, I'm not paying for it so no need to be a cheapskate. Run the bill to redline! Ummm, I'm partial to Guinness Extra Stout with schnapps chasers.

You are absolutely correct, appreciate the heads-up. The ASC documentation is attached. I'll make sure the body shop does the job right.

Now that is what I was trying to tell in an earlier post. Drop your car off and pick it up when it's finish.

Re: WTB Camaro Driver side Fender and Door

i recently did a mod job on my convertible, i replaced the driver door with a hard top driver door, i wish i still had my old door because there are some differences. the hinge mounting holes are different sizes and the window is a different height, i don't know if the glass is actually different or if the tracs are in a different spot but this definately doesn't seal up right. i also replaced my fenders and had to cut them down, i didn't grab the bracket though and its a bit loose, i'll have to fab one. anyone know about the window?

I've replaced doors on Camaro hard tops and convertibles, never saw any differences other than the trim. Perhaps the door you picked up has modified hinge mounts. The glass is standard - check the inside tracks to ensure correct placement and functionality.
