New Camaro!;]
Well, I figure I should start posting more, I've been lurking in the background for the past three years now. Maybe the new car will bring the social side of me out a little more.. I had to buy her as a 21st birthday present for myself... Early birthday present, anyway. Still got another 2 months to go, though, but that's okay.
Anyhow, here she is in all of her glory:
*1989 IROC-Z - 425hp (est.) - T-Tops - "Roxy"
*Top-side
-383 Stroker
-4 bolt main
-ProComp Aluminum Heads^
-TPIS Miniram Intake
-Engle Cam^
-Accel 30lb injectors
-58mm Throttle body
-Wrapped Edelbrock Tuned Headers
-2 Core Aluminum Radiator with Dual Electric Fans
*Bottom-side
-World Class T-5
-CenterForce2 clutch
-Factory Diff Gears, soon to be upgraded.
-Driveline loop (used to be an autocross car)
-Welded sub-frame connectors
-BMR Lower Control Arms (rear)
-Wilwood Adjustable Proportional Valve (probably my favorite thing about the car.)
-C5 Corvette rims (base)
-Eagle F1 rubbers
-Hawk HPS rotors and pads, drilled and slotted rears.
*In-side
-Twin ProCar Bucket Seats
-Corbeau 4-Pt. Harnesses
-Grant Wood Finish steering wheel, (not a fan of wood finishes)
-Factory wood finish dash panel, soon to be flat black, compliments of Plasti-Dip
-Black out tail lights
-Factory tan interior, soon to be black&red
-Rear seat delete
-Factory seatbelt delete
-Factory paint, soon to be painted black&red
-Factory hood, about to mount up my 2" cowl hood from my RS
-Lower valence panel from my RS.
^Engine Specs:
-1900cc runners
-Duration @ .050; 222 In, 230 Out
-Lift .479 In, .501 Out
-Intake flow @ .500", 261 lift
-Exhaust flow @ .500", 186 lift
-Chamber Volume: 64cc
Picked her up for a hair short of $6k, $5950 to be exact:]
Constructive criticism is welcomed!
And I'd definitely like to get involved with a third gen car club, or at least a Camaro/GM club. If you know or are apart of one, leave a message!
I look forward to hearing some feedback! Later, guys!
-Josh.

@G92Optioned, Yeah, I took a little time today to evaluate that. haha. I used some simple green on the shock towers, came off pretty well. I'm a little timid to reroute the electrical, however. Knowing my luck I'd probably mess something up and then be turning in circles as to what hell I just created myself. But great criticism, hahah.
@Godreject, first and foremost, I need to find a job. I just got laid off, so that's no fun. Then I have to register her in my name, and find a shitty STAR station that'll pass my smog. THEN, I should probably pay my $750 bill that my mechanic racked up for me, (snapped a rocker of the stud, replaced all studs with the correct length. New fuel pump, as well). But if you're referring to upgrades, well that's a different story. hahaha.
New paint, matte black with the sides of the 2" cowl gloss red. Plasti-dip the rims matte black as well.
Interior overhaul. Taking it from tan to black and red, maybe custom door panels if I can find a good upholsterer.
New rear end gears, I'm sitting stock right now, and with that much power, she doesn't hook up too well
I'd like to get a nice procharger under the hood as well, that would be nice.
Maybe upgrade from the WC T-5 to a T-56
Z06 or ZR1 rims for sure, 305's in the rear.
@actarnoff, as far as the state of california is concerned, sure;] hahah
@BlackMamba, nice! My last car was an '89 RS TBI, her name was Alice. She was black with some nice red interior compliments. The red reminded me of Alice from the Resident Evil series, so I went with that... and partly because Mila Jovovich is f*ckin' hot;]

Re: New Camaro!;]
From what I understand, it's not too terribly hard. The STAR system is just a way to rate stations. So a shitty station before is still a shitty station, but with a rating. If all else fails, I have a friend who just bought a '91 Integra, built by a guy who works for some shop. Went to his house with my friend to pick up the car, and the guy is actually pretty knowledgeable with the JDM cars. Anyhow, he's getting the SMOG for the Integra and offered to get mine done for about $150, which isn't bad at all. I've got a couple other resources I can tap into, if need be. So I'm not too concerned with the SMOG. Everyone has their price!

Just another photo from today. Got around to Plasti-Dipping the rims flat black. Plasti-Dip is really the ****! I think she looks a lot better on black rims than the chrome finish...

I guess I'm getting old but I really hate black rims. If you have 400HP and stock brakes you really need to upgrade to bigger brakes.

I would definitely upgrade from the T5 as that is barely rated for the stock HP for the car much less the 425 estimated you have. I'm not saying it can't take it as others here have proved wrong, but speaking from my experience and 2 busted T5's without even being really hard on it, it will definitely be a weak point

Re: New Camaro!;]
@ringo234, I'm not sure why they're appealing, but I just happened to think the black looked better than the chrome on these particular sets. I got rid of my IROC rims, because of the gold. I hate, with a passion, gold accents and tan interiors. It's just way too seventies for me. Mind you, my favorite Camaro is a '72, but tan interiors remind me of a seventies luxury car or something. I digress. haha. Also, brakes were upgraded to Hawks HPS drilled and slotted rears. Along with the upgraded brakes, comes the adjustable proportional valve. That thing is the greatest thing I've ever seen, and I'd definitely recommend it to ANYONE, not just sports cars, but every vehicle. It greatly enhances your braking ability and stops the vehicle almost on a dime. I'm very impressed and satisfied with that feature. Wilwood makes one for later model GM in case you guys are wondering.
@Krazeefewl, It's not the stock T-5. It's a World Class. From what I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong (please), the World Class has different bearings and larger gears, the end result being a high HP/TQ rating. At one time, I looked up those ratings and found that it could sustain some pretty good power, in the 300-550 range depending on the package that was gone with. But further plans do call for a T-56. :]

Re: New Camaro!;]
You are correct in that the WC can handle a little more power than the NWC T5, but if memory serves me correctly even the WC T5 is only rated at 300 ft/lbs of torque. That being said I've seen and read on here of V6's even messing up a T5. So I would be wary of driving around with the power you have on that transmission. I'm also a little biased as dislike the T5 very much because I've gone through 2 just driving around normally with the occasional "spirited" driving here and there. Glad to hear that plans for a T56 are in the future.

t5 is still a t5 WC or not there good for well lets see Just cruise lol
issue with the t5 is that the case is weak and twist with increase power or aggressive driving you can upgrade internals all day but you cant upgrade the case
get a t56 and since your already a manual car its a easy swap

G Force sells the case for the T5 much stronger then The original
If you want a stronger T5 just get one from a mustang since they are stronger
But I would get a T56

And don't get me wrong, Zach, I love the white and black combo! But with the work my mechanic did, he let his greasy paws sit on the paint and didn't bother to wipe 'em off in time. so now i have pretty black smudge accents to my paint!.... -_____- matte black is probably going to my bestfriend when it comes to the messy mechanic. ahahah

No, unfortunately i've been going through an ordeal with my mechanic and this car.. He's not very competent when it comes to american cars. So as of right now, she's not tuned and, really, not even timed properly. I get intermittent backfires in first and second, if I go wide open to quick. I have to roll into wide open to avoid the backfire. Anyhow, if you guys know of any good american, or 3rd gen mechanics/tuners, lemme know please. I sold my IROCs to a forum member from here, and he suggested Dyno Don(?).

http://www.tpichips.com/ can help you with the tuning i dealt with him when using when i had tbi night and day difference even member i sold chip to reported ver happy results idk if dyno don does tuning chip wise im sure he can correct the timing but yea dyno don is the guy if you dont want to learn or do yourself
but get a different mechanic asap lol or start researching and learning yourself
you know matte black holds oils in the hand or anything oily so you prob still see oil hand prints especially around areas that get touch alot like dorr hood and trunk idk if you knew that but just fyi

Kevin does a great job tuning our TPI cars. He can do it at Don's shop (Saturdays are best for him). The best time is on a Dyno Day. although they only happen once or twice a year lately.

@imadude_134 & Ringo234, She's probably a little far from being computer tuned, I meant she probably needs the block to be gone through for peace of mind, and to be re-timed. My mechanic, as previously stated, is not very competent, and I don't really trust his work anymore, unfortunately. Mind you, everything but the body is aftermarket. So, I can imagine he looked up all the manufacturers specs when doing the job. I really need a guy who knows American and knows how the little tricks of the trade and knows how to get a pushrod motor in great running condition, not just some guy who can look it up in a book and try and wing it. From what I've read on the forums, Kevin and Dyno Don seem VERY competent and knowledgeable and will more than likely be my next mechanic, provided that they're willing to work on the car
Thanks for the references, guys!
@Zach, I didn't know that, but it makes perfect sense. Maybe I'll revise my previous plan and invert it. Gloss black with red matte accents.
