Removing an Idler Arm.
Removing an Idler Arm.
I'm trying to swap the Idler arm on the Camaro out, but I'm not having much luck getting the old one off. I'ved tried a 2 jaw puller but I can't get it to bite. Would a pickle fork, or a tie rod remover work?
Thanks!

Ditto for me. I rented one from Pep Boys. But for the amount of times I rented it I've been tempted to just buy one. But the time I wanted to buy it they were out of stock on the one I wanted. The set I rented included a fork you could mount in an air chisle. I gave it a whack though.
Be careful with the forks and you can f--k up the boots and then they are junk.
if you loosen the bolt connecting it to the center link so a few threads show, use a 5 lb sledge or brass and give it a good square hit. that will work and since the nut is still on you don't booger up the threads (mushroom). you can only hit it about 5 or 6 times then it will start to mess the threads up.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. A lot of banging with a pickle fork and it came right out. I managed to get the new one back on with the help of a C-clamp to hold it in place and stop the stud from spinning.
Unfortunately, I managed to drop an 18mm box wrench on myself and chip a tooth
