My car is currently in the shop and my mechanic wants to send it to a specialist for electrical problems. This will cost me a ton of money I don't have!

Here is the situation. My car is a 89 GTA, years ago I removed all of the smog equipment because I piggy backed a Accel DFI which omitted these sensors. A few months ago I reinstalled all of the smog equipment to try to revert back to the factory computer because my DFI crapped out and I received the dreaded CA Test Only Smog! Now that everything is back in order my computer doesn't read any of the sensors and wont throw any codes. We tried to replace the computer but it didn't do any thing. Any ideas would be helpful.

 

Use your service manual and trace the connections from the sensors to the computer. Make sure you dont have a short or an open. If that doesnt work, bring it to me to diagnose, as something like this is really tough online.

 

Don, thank you for your help. I would have brought it to you in the first place, however it would cost way to much to have it towed to your shop from Escondido. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Don, Can you leave me the address to your shop. I want to see how far away you are from me. If my mechanic hasn't done anything by tomorrow, I might invest the time to bring it to you. I would have in the first place but I am down in Escondido. Do you think you can fix my strange electrical problem, and my over heating issues? Please let me know, I have been without a car for 3 weeks and I am getting a little grumpy! By the way, it is a 355 TPI with a Shnyder Cam & ZZ4 heads if that makes a difference.
