Still no Heads
If you guys plan on using AFR heads you better order now. It's taking them about a month now to get these heads produced.
I called them today and found they won't be ready till the middle of next week!!
So I should have the the motor around the same time as the west coast shootout.
This thing is taking forever!!!

Sorry to hear...
Its taking so long Dwayne. I know what its like being down an IROC. Hopefully the heads will be the only surprise/wait through your entire project and you'll be able to get your engine back together and broken in soon enough to make it to other events
P.S. I have decided to port out my Super Ram as well as polish it, thats quite a bit of work! Though I also picked my water pump up because I had the bright idea I might want to polish that as well

I decided on not getting a polished pump for $ reasons.
I went with a Stewart stage 2, still expensive though.
I am polishing the accessory brakets or at least whats visible. It's definately a ton of work.
So far it's looking like I'll go to the shootout on the 13th and leave from there to the Bay area to bring my motor home that following day. I still need a rad.

Dwayne, did you order the hugemongous valves and tiny combustion chambers on a special alloy head? :nono: Dang, that sucks they are taking this long, they should have them in stock ready to ship. Unless they don't sell that many, which I would think considering the delay (or may be everyone wants some).

I found out they have a part number for what I ordered they just didn't have any made. If anybody uses AFR be sure to have them drill/tap for the head sensors.
It ain't gonna be no tailer queen that's for sure.
I just thought that while I have some down time I could tweek a bit getting ready for the install.
Sittin around the garage, shootin the s..t, crankin the tunes, rubbin aluminum, drinkin beer, ya know car dude stuff.
I finally decided on a radiator. I went the 3 core upgraded rad delivered free.
