can someone help with this problem ?
Ok before i drop the v8 in i am going to drive the v6 a little longer(bear with the 130 hp) and tighten up the suspension........
*problem**
When i am driving along and i hit 3rd gear and 4th gear my car begins to sway back and forth from side to side(this is coming from the front area) but it stops when i downshift(when my foot is on the clutch that is) and wont start again until i hit 3rd going into 4th gear..there is also alot of free play in my steering wheel. Now i was told that it may be my idelarm
is this true ??
and how can i fix this ? has anyone went through this, and has fixed it ?
thanks in advance !! ~

Yes, ...
... it could be the idler arm or a worn steering box or a centerlink.
Sounds like a front end rebuild is in order before anything bigger goes in the engine compartment.

yeah, sounds like either a idler arm or a centerlink. My idler arm was not good, but my centerlink was shot, i replaced both, put a wonderbar on, and threw some polybushings on my endlinks (well, all new endlinks). Car must have been 100 times tighter afte I was done. Only thing to watch out for is when you replace the centerlink, the studs that you bolt the idler and pitman arms to spin pretty easy... It's a real PITA to get em tight enough to fit the cotter pin through... BTW, I bought mine from NAPA, and am very satisfied with both the product, and the knowledge of thier salesmen.
