rear disc tech. question

I have a '89 Formula 350 w/ rear disc brake and I would like to know how can I find out if my rear brakes are functioning like they should. I know they are working cuz they will slow the driveline down if you test them with the tires off the ground. Is this an accurate test? Should the brakes stop the axle & tires from turning when off the ground?

thanks

I've been trying to fix my damn e-brake on my 89 forever. I'm giving up and getting some rebuilt calipers and new cables. POS
Sorry, a little vent session.

If your brakes don't hae enough power to stop your wheels from turning with it off the ground i doubt it will do much for ya on the road. Do a search for rear brake fix and there should be about a gazilion threads that should help you. I say either your calipers are the older style and need the recall kit or you just need to do the proportioning valve mod. Take a look around you'll see what i'm talking about.
