What kind of discs? Iron calipers or aluminum?

The fact that you have a 9-bolt really doesn't tell us much, there's no such thing as "9-bolt brakes" and "10-bolt brakes".

The iron single piston calipers have issues with the ebrake, there's a recall kit that's supposed to address the issue. I helped a friend of mine put one in but I don't know how well it actually works.

As far as I know there's no known issues with the aluminum (PBR/1LE) rear discs.

Dude, my 89 discs in the rear are horrible. The e-brake hasn't worked ever since I got the car. Vader walked me through some diagnostics but in the end, I still couldn't get them to work no matter how much I cleaned and fooled with them and the cables. The actuator or 'piston' that the lever pushes to apply force to the discs doesn't seam to be long enough.

That's just odd. My ebrake is good enough to stall the motor.

I used to have a Borg Warner Disk rear....I couldnt find the problem to why it wasnt strong....so I ended up selling it to my freind and then I took his rear end with drum brakes. So now I can atcually use my side brake to break out the back end. Great for drifting
