K-Member: Tubular vs Stock
Ive searched the archives...and Im still uncertain of which to go with. I just got my hands on a 92 Hardtop RS with no engine/tranny...im building it up with a 383 Miniram...it wont be my daily driver....but I will be driving it on the street...probably more so than on the track (drag and autocrossing). I looked under the car....and the k-member is crunched BAD. So im debating on whether I should spend the money on a PA Tubular k-member...or just get a regular stock one. I want to go ahead and buy it soon so it'll be ready for the engine to be dropped in. Any suggestions?
Get the PA tubular K-Member it's totally worth the investment....you can loose over 100lbs and you can also switch over to a rack and pinion steering set up. Remember WEIGHT=HORSEPOWER....Every 100lbs you take out of your car is worth a tenth of a sec in 1/4 mile times

Will I gain ground clearance as well? Whenever I scape the bottom its either the k-member or the cat.....and if I do gain clearance...will I have more of a chance of hitting the oil pan? Texas streets SUCK. Some recommended I weld a piece of steel from the k-member out extended past the oil pan to keep it from hitting. Think this might be a good idea?

just remember, the stock one is stronger, it will hold up better if something happens...like being run off the road....on street driven cars it does not matter how good of a driver your, other are not, i prefer for my convertible strength over weight, i don't plan on racing it, it is a street driven cruzn' car...
so i am trying to make it as ridged and stong as possible to a certain extent...No i am not gonna add 500 lbs of steel but you get what i am sayn.
