E-brake Q?

I checked in my Hayes manual on how to adjust the e-brake and it says to turn a nut while holding on to the cable stud. WELL, I looked under my 91 RS and there isn't any kind of nut to turn. Just a cable into 2 other cables. Anyone have any idea of how to adjust this, or is it just time for new rear breaks ? By the way, they are drum breaks.
Thanks,

There sould be a bracket that holds all three cables together. at the rear of it there is a nut, but if you don't hold the bold when you turn it it will just twist. Mines a pain to adjust, I have to run my hand up the top of the drive shaft to get a good position on it. your e brake should click about 14 times when adjusted properly. I have discs in the rear so mine may be different.

The later cars had a self adjusting emergency brake adjuster (whew, that was a mouthful!). At any rate, you don't have a nut under there. It's self adjusting at the ebrake handle (under the center console, inside the car).
