Leaf Springs on a THirdGEn

I heard some one say that the Third Gen F bodies have leaf springs... i looked under my car and saw something that kinda resembled them... do we have leaf springs or what is that????

87 Trans AM.

I dont know how to explain it... I guess iw as looking at something else... not really sure...

then what all kind of susp does my car have???

MacPherson struts front, coil springs rear.

What you may have been looking at was the lower control arms. Its a four point live axle rear suspension as opposed to an independent rear like the Corvettes.

Quick question... arn't MacPherson struts inside of the springs to make a modular unit. That is just what I have always heared of as a MacPherson strut. I thought ours was just a strut assy.

You're correct. It's called a modified MacPherson Strut or Chapman Strut. Lon
