outer tie rod removal
outer tie rod removal
anyone got any tips on how to get the outer tie rod out of its sleeve? its pretty well rusted in there. i dont mean how to get it out of the steering knuckle, i had no problem doing that. but how to get it out of the sleeve that connects the inner and outer tie rods.
If i had an acetylene i would just heat it up until its red then spray wd-40 all over it, but mine has run out of gas. plus i kind of need this car working to go get more gas...
any help?

buy a new sleeve....?
if i did that i'd still have to remove the outer AND inner tie rods just to use the new sleeve.
i solved it anyway, i just used a propane torch to heat it up and break it loose; took a little longer but it worked ok.
