air in brakes

i think i may have air in my brakes. i installed a adj. pv and i thought i bled them right. some one was in the car and held the brakes while i opened the bleeder. i did this twice to each wheel. fluid always came out. no air, but i may be wrong. now i can pump up my brakes and they are firm, with the car off. with the car on the brakes engage closer to the floor. and they feel weaker than before i installed the pv valve.

also do i need a new MC if i use a 4th gen rear end. i have a 89 and the J50 MC. if i need a new one which one do i buy.
