quick box

i have been bizzy lately up grading! i have been buiding up my car from the self serve yards in my san jose area, EH, pick and pull....i am cheap.well anyway i have changed the steering box to an XH 1/12 (it had a WP in it)and i was wondering if it was normal for it to feel stiffer to turn the steering wheel for this kind of box and also the steering wheel is off by 1/8 of a turn to the left as for the splines it is fool proof as for the pitman and the input shaft...and on the pressure line side where the little oneway valve is i had to make/ modify a brake line washer to fit in the grove so the flair fitting from the high pressure hose had somthing to seat on ....HAS anybody had a simular problem???

I had the same problem recently. My wheel was a quarter turn off. I just took it to Midas and they straightened the wheels to the steering wheel...there was enough thread to do it. All's well now.

The quick ratio box has a "high effort" or "high resistance" feel. It's to provide better feedback (feel) for the driver.
