Strut mount bad?

I think my strut mounts might be bad. When I crank the wheel full to one side and start moving, the front end "hops" once. Its feels like the front end shifts. I have all new steering linkage and polyurethane bushings. Is there a way to check if they are worn out or broken? Has anyone experienced this before?

The stock strut mount consists of a large rubber donut
with a steel bearing mounted inside the donut.

Pull off the plastic caps and have a look.

With the hood open turn the steering wheel from lock to
lock you should be able to spot cracks in the donut this way.
(Use your girlfriend)

Its possible that the bearing has siezed and so the donut
might be trying to turn on the housing...
