84 front caliper wont bleed
84 front caliper wont bleed
A friend bought an 84 Z28 the other day. Today we changed front pads. The passenger side worked fine but the caliper locked up on the driver side. Picked up a rebuilt caliper and installed it, but we can't get it to bleed. We used a vacuum bleeder, tried using the pedal and even took the caliper off and couldn't get any fluid to bleed from the line. Resivoir is full and the pass. side brake still functions fine. What's going on? Plugged line? Bad master cyl. or combo valve? Did we forget something? Directions said to use the valve on the back of the comination valve to help fill the caliper but we couldn't get that to work. Help!!!

more than likely you got some blockage in the line. i would use some shop air and blow out the affected line. how about the flexible line(rubber)? is it new/old? it could also be an internally collapsed rubber hose.

Yep. I agree. Intenally collapsed rubber line.
The pressure wouldn't release to that caliper, so it would lock up. It wouldn't bleed either since there is no clear path to the caliper.
Did you check the "stuck" caliper when you took it off? Was it seized or not?
Andy.
