anyone drive a tubbed out 3rd gen???
anyone drive a tubbed out 3rd gen???
I just put a 383 stroker in my car and man oh man are those motors real torqers!!!the heads are just out of the box and not ported polished no roller rockers and the cam is pretty mild but traction is still a bit of a problem. this car is mainly for fun or shows. I am seriously considering tubbing it out but I am not sure how a tubbed out car drives on the road. before anyone thinks I am driving this car everyday let me say it is strickly a toy but I do want to be able to drive it to shows. anyone know how a tubbed out car drives on the road. are they jerky?? or do they drive pretty smooth. I would assume def jerky around corners but I don't know. any input wouyld help out guys.
Drives the same unless you put in a spool. Some tubs don't seal to the fender so road noise and grit makes it in. The only huge difference is that they hate taking corners. Lots of swaying and creaking and what not. Most of that is because the suspension is so far inboard.

I'm a big fan of seeing race cars run on 10" tires. I've seen cars running low 8's on 10.5" tires.
I don't think its worth the effort. With half the money you would spend on tubbing it you could just completely redo the suspension and hook like glue while still keeping the "street car" look.
