noise on turns &brakes has me stumped.. plz help

I get a high screech from the front wheels on:

1. Light braking (getting on and off the pedal)

2. Turns, any sort, any speed, screeches.

3. Combination of the above two, braking on turns, produces diff high pitch screeches also.

I thought it might be the bearings, but those produce a low 'growl' when going bad. Pads are still good and rotors don't look damaged. The only guess I have left is that the anti-squeel applied on back of pads when changed doesn't work anymore??

Thanks,
Brian

What brake pads are you using? PF Carbon Metallic pads have a tendency to squeal.

Usually I pitch the anti-squeal shims and instead apply anti-squeal adhesive made by CRC. It keeps my pads nice and quiet.

... thing is, I didn't have this problem up to a few weeks ago, it just developed itself, so I don't really think it's anything wrong with the pad seating... a friend of mine mentioned to check the backing plate?

Sure it's not the wear sensors?

I second this statement and only ad that I llike to also bevel the leading edge of the pad. This always has prevented brake squeaking for me, and lessen the hard initial bite when softly pedaling the binders.

Okay okay... It turns out that the wear sensors on the bottom part of the inner driver side pad was hitting... I guess those can scratch even w/o brakes in my case b/c the front pads weren't fully releasing. Turns out that rear drums weren't "self adjusting" and therefore totally ineffective... causing the fronts to burn out much fast + not release. Ahwells, got the parking brake reset and the brakes serviced as well as a suspension check Thanks for the help yall

i used to have the same problem w. the drums on one of my older gms. Turns out if you only do mostly light brake applications, they wont adjust. Youll have to make a point of doing several hard stops in like reverse or something like that to get them to adjust or take the drums off and turn theadjuster wheel yourself. If your going to adjust em by the first method, make sure you do it often or the wheel cyl. will get damaged. Found that one out the hard way, too.
