Wheel spacers: bad?

My new Firehawk rims came with spacers for the front to clear the tie rods. They are about 1/8" thick and have the proper lugs to center them.

Any potential problems with auto-X or road racing?

I'm just curious, are those spacers aluminum or steel?

GM did not put spacers on the front only on the rear drum brake cars. Not stock someone else put them there, also they are approx .170 thick and are steel.

I got spacers when I picked up my '89 Iroc rearend, the thin steel ones. It looks to me like I need them to keep the wheels from hitting the caliper cradles, but I haven't trid to run with them off either.
